This is a very fun set from The Hobbit. It includes 4 awesome minifigures, 2 big spiders, 2 small black spiders, and 1 glow in the dark small spider. It also has two scary looking trees and interesting details like skull heads, mushrooms, and cloth spider webs (cocoons). This set contains two bags of bricks. Bag one has the elves and the two big spiders. Bag two contains the dwarfs and the trees and other elements. The build was pretty easy. The two spiders are exactly the same, so I built them at the same time instead of building one and then the other. The trees are black with dark red elements. I really like the way the bigger tree has a feature that allows the tree to fall over so that Bilbo (sold seperately) can rescue Kili and Fili. It also has a spider shooter feature that slides spiders out of a small hole in the base of the tree. I really like the glow in the dark features for this set: the eyes of the big spiders, the small white spider, and the base of the mushrooms. I also really like the cloth spider webs that are able to hold a minifig and hang from the tree. The minifigures in this set are amazing. You get two dwarfs and two elves. The dwarfs are Fili and Kili and the two elves are 'LEGOlas" and Tauriel. The printing and detail on each minifig is exquisite. All four have dual printed heads showing a calm and a fierce face. Fili has a brown outfit with two swords. I really like his light brown hair piece. Kili is wearing a brown leather coat and has a green shirt underneath. He has black legs and cool black hair. His weapon is his bow. Legolas has a cool design printed on his torso. He is primarily brown but has some green highlights. I really like the gold printing armor near his neck and he has gold arms. The long blonde hair piece is top notch with the elvish ears and braid. He has a totally different design than his Lord of the Rings minifig. Tauriel was a great surprise. I was very happy to see that LEGO included a female elf in this set. She is primarily green with leather armor. She has two knives that are the "sands of time" dagger from The Prince of Persia. Her hair is a very unique reddish brown color. She and Legolas have the same leg printing. Overall, this is a great set from The Hobbit. You receive 4 amazing minfigures, 2 big and articulated spiders, 3 small spiders, awesome accessories, and glow in the dark features. I can't imagine anyone not liking this set. Well done. Thanks for reading my review. Play Well!!

I never had high hopes that it would be amazing, but this set fell short of my already quite low expectations. The small tree did nothing whatsoever, and it hardly looked like a tree. I think they could have made a better small tree, with at least a small function. Now the big tree. I think that it looked a lot more like a tree, but didn't have great balance. Also, the spider shooter is a bit stiff. However, the tree falls really well. The Webs are cool, but they fall off really easily, especially when a dwarf isn't in one. The spiders are OK, but they really don't look like spiders, and LEGO really could have made them better with a few more bricks. The figures were the big upside. Fili and Kili are my favourite dwarves, and they were both really awesome. The hair had this nice niche for the quiver of arrows. Tauriel was cool, but the daggers weren't unique :( (Prince of Persia), but you get three of them. Tauriel would be better of course if we knew more about her. Legolas had an awesome outfit, (and he can have his own knife) and he looks cooler than the other Legolas. All minifigs have double-sided faces. I think that unless you are a Hobbit fan and want the set you shouldn't get this set.:(

Spiders of Mirkwood

By amazed78

from Muurame

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Escape from Spiders (79001):

I quite recently purchased this set although it has been unavailable for months now and now I've finally built it.

It took a surprisingly long time to complete such a small set (only 298 pieces), but the building of the two identical spiders took longer than I imagined. Their legs were slightly tedious to put together but the end product is great. The spiders will fit in quite nicely with Shelob from set 9470.

There are four minifigures (Fili, Kili, Tauriel, and Legolas) included in the set, which is a good amount for a set this size. All of them have two-sided faces, so with three of the minifigures you can choose between an angry expression or a neutral expression. Fili has a smiling face and an angry face. As many have remarked, Bilbo definitely should have been included in this set.

The play features of this set include a tree tipping function and a spider attack function which is a slightly tight fit. You can also trap the dwarves in spider web bags and have them hanging off the tree with the tipping function which in turn is used to rescue the dwarves. The other tree (or rather a stump) with a bow hanging from it is a bit superfluous in my opinion since it has no functions except to maybe add to the piece count.

        Okay

        from Undisclosed

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Escape from Spiders (79001):

This set was Okay. it was a bit hard to build, and had a lot of small pieces that were easy to loose. Just your average Lego set, nothing special. It was a bit expensive, and it should be around 15 dollars. I was also kind of mad that Bilbo doesn't save them, as he does in the book, but of course, that Isn't Lego's fault. I would still recommenced this set, but not very strongly.

The Spiders Are Out To Get You!

        By Gresh854

        from Seattle

Comments about LEGO The Hobbit Escape from Spiders (79001):

I love this set so so much! This set is, I don't know, I just like the colors of it. Now this was a cool scene in the movie with the spiders form The Hobbit Desolation of Smaug. Now lets move onto the review. Fili - Fili is a cool dwarf. he has a cool fur coat with belts wrapped around him on his torso and he has 2 small swords. He also has unique orange hair and a cool face printing. Kili - Kili is one of my favorite Dwarves from the movie. He has the same hair as Fili just black and a cool brown torso printing. He has a nice face printing too. Tauriel - Tauriel has some really cool green and orange torso printing and leg printing. Very elvish-like. She has a sweet face printing and long orange hair with elvish ears. She also includes 2 daggers which were from the Prince of Persia series. Legolas - I love Legolas! He is really awesome in the new movie. He has a bow and arrows and some very fancy torso and leg printing like Tauriel's torso printing. He has the same hairpiece as Tauriel just yellow. Main Builds - The Spiders (x2) - The spiders are absolutely adorable and evil! They look so epic and cool! They have white eyes which can glow in the dark and some sharp legs. They have a huge bottom back and it is movable. The spiders are a must have for a all LOTR fans and Hobbit fans! They are awesome! I'll have top buy this set again to get 2 more cause I believe there was about 4 spiders in the movie who attacked the dwarves and Bilbo. Forest Trees (x2) - The first tree is pretty plain. The tree is completely black and has a brown twig on the top of it on the side. On the ground there are red things and all sort of added random stuff and a bone. The second forest tree is awesome. On the bottom there are skeleton heads, bones, mushrooms, and spiders. there is also a white glow in the dark spider which you can make pop out at you or your minifgures! There is a black huge tree with some rare red tree leaves on the top to make it look like a tree from the Mirkwood forest. On top of there there are two web things that you can put the dwarves in. now they are stuck in the webs just like in the movie! To make them escape, you have to pull this pin an then the see will fall down and then the dwarves can escape! You can put the tree back up when you put the pin back in and put the see back in place. Overall I just love this set so so much because of how unique it is. It has awesome spiders, unique black trees, and really cool minifgures! This is a MUST BUY for all Hobbit or LOTR fans! A epic set! 10/10
