When I first looked briefly at the box, I thought this product would be awesome. After looking more in depth at the instructions I was surprised to see that these were no bake. I thought to myself, this can't be good. But, I put that aside and let my 7 year old make them. The first batch turned out to be too thick, so they did not set up well. They ended up in the trash. The second batch we thinned with water. Much better results for filling and distribution in the cups. The consistency of the pops when they come out of the fridge are icky. A wet sponge is how I would describe it. Then, as other posters mentioned, when putting on the icing like the directions suggest, the cake pops fall off. Every time. The smell of the batter is does not smell like cake batter should. The taste...worst thing ever. Now that we have no other cake mixes left, this toy is getting lost in the bottom of the trash can

A piece of heartbreaking junk

About Me Parent Of Two Or More Children
Comments about Spin Master 1001130 Cool Baker Cake Pop Maker:
My 8 year daughter spent $30 of her hard earned birthday money on this product. What a waste!! After assisting her for nearly 2 hours, and finally getting to the icing stage, we noted that the cake portions looked like little brains on a stick, and no matter how gentle the "roll" and icing of the cake portion, they fell off the sticks and disintegrated one by one. I tried to encourage her by telling her that 2 out of 4 wasn't bad, but then cake pop #3 fell off the stick when she tried to apply the sprinkles. I told her to just grab a fork and eat it, and she said it tasted disgusting. Her 10 year old sister, who eats just about anything tasted the last one, and said it tasted like jelly. Gross! After yelling at the toy and crying in exasperation, my 8 year old said to just throw it away . She did not want any part of it to remain in our kitchen. She has now sworn off of cooking toys due to the disappointment and waste of time. Do yourself and child a favor -- just buy real cake pop pans and use cake mix, and be done with it all!!!!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Cute but very poor product.

Very disappointed. The product to make the cake part does not fill the circles completely and you have to refrigerate the batter for 15 min to help expand. Note no heating or baking involved. Not worth the $30 spent. Very poor product. Makes you wonder what kind if chemicals are used to make the batter solidify like a damp cake consistency. Not recommended.

We excitedly set it up and directions were easy. However, filling the pop mold was difficult. It was uneven and hard to manage. After taking it out of the fridge it fell apart. It tasted good but it didn't make it to decoration. I did it again but with no avail I couldn't get the pop from falling apart.
Tastes horrible, looks horrible

About Me Stay At Home Parent
This was given to my 6 year old daughter for a gift. We tried making it together, and it was a disaster from start to finish. A lot of assembly for very little product. The balls didn't fill fully with the contraption and it had to be jammed in manually with your fingers. After refrigerated, it didn't stay together, the sticks fell off and they broke in half when you tried to put them in the icing. The taste was unbelievably bad. Nothing I can compare it too, but certainly not something you would want to eat.
Worst gift ever

Got my 6 year old daughter this for Christmas along with all the refills flavours available. Took it to grandma's house to make cake pops for everyone. Flimsy crank assembly fell apart while trying to fill the mold. When the cake pops were finished they tasted like raw dough. No one would eat them; not even the grandparents to be polite. The cake pop maker and refills have not been used ever since. My daughter asked me to throw everything out today.
Easy to use - fun to decorate
from Los Angeles
Very cute set up! Appealing colors and little spots for everything to go. Easy to mix, easy to use. I LOVE that you don't have to cook it. The little "pops" fill out as they chill to make a real ball. Taste is not good at all, although the 8-year-old palate thought it was wonderful. I would recommend it for an activity with limited supervision for the sprinkle mess...

This turned out to be a waste of money and my 8 year old daughter was disappointed with the final outcome. The unit is easy enough to assemble and the process is easy as well. The actual food product is horrible!!! The measurement they suggest does not offer the consistency you need to easily poor the batter into the cups. We never got a "cake pop" - it was more like a "cake blob". Same with the icing. My expectations weren't too high to begin with, but it's heart breaking when your kid is excited about a product and it doesn't perform as seen on TV. Also, the cake pop batter tastes HORRIBLE! We ended our adventure with a big mess of blobs that almost taste like cookie dough covered with thick bitter chocolate.
