First off let me tell you how much research i did for months trying to find a convertable carseat that was safe and would fit in my car. I have a 2012 Chevy Cruze, and both my husband and i are tall and need the legroom. We also didn't want to loose our use of our back seats. So after months of online research and going to every store to see the carseats in person, I finally made my decision and chose the chicco nextfit in gemini. After reading the instruction manual, and placing my daughter in it in the house first, seeing how happy and comfortable she was made me super excited to put it in the car, (she hated her infant seat). Just so you know my daughter is 5 months, 20Lbs and 27 inches long) Infant seat was way to heavy! So after reading the manual, I found installation easier then her infant base! Leveling it was so much easier and inused both latch and seatbelt just for extra saftey! I have it on the 2nd reclined postion and she loves het new seat! It fits great i the middle of the back seat, and i can have passengers on both sides, and i can fit comfortably in the driver seat! I do not think any other seat would have fit so nicely! Overall i am greatly pleased with my purchase and would purchase another when when i have baby #2! I think Chicco makes a great seat and it is worth the price! Love, Love it!! I saw this carseat in a BRU catalog and knew right away that I had to have it. One of the main selling points is it has 9 recline positions, for both rear and forward facing. During long car rides when my 13 month old daughter has a bottle or falls asleep, I can easily reach back and recline the seat with one hand. Also love the fabric! Its soft and stays cool in this hot and humid weather in HI. Installing seat with latch system was a breeze. Both my baby and I are very happy with this purchase. Thanks Chicco!!!

I think the NextFit is a gorgeous seat. So soft, plush and very obviously a high quality grade seat. I have a Britax Boulevard 70 that my son uses and I got this for my 7mon old daughter. I do love my Britax and after the 1st week I almost returned the NextFit to get another Britax BUT that's because I was having a hard time tightening the harness. The Britax is so easy to tighten that it drove me nuts trying to tighten the NextFit. So before returning it, I called Chicco and they told me to pull the shoulder straps down to the buckle while tightening the straps. The pads are very dense and cushy so the straps don't "glide" through them that well. I did this and it made a world of difference!! Also, the shoulder pads CAN BE REMOVED to be cleaned. It doesn't explain how in all the instruction manuals but if you call Chicco, they will email you the instructions on removing them. So there you have it, its a great seat!!
I've only had the seat for 2wks, so the Pros and Cons are "as of so far".

I just got this yesterday and installed it last night. First off, I was happy to get it at all. After doing a lot of research on carseats, I decided I wanted this one. We had already been using the Chicco Keyfit 30 and have been happy with it. I had also considered the Britax Advocate and the Britax Pavillion. I was afraid the Advocate would be way to big for my car as I drive a smallish SUV and I read that those things are beheamouths. I tried to order the Nextfit online in Gemini with the ship-to-store option which was all that was available to me. Less than 30 minutes later, I received an email from BRU stating they had cancelled my order because the item was "unavailable". I was quite frustrated, called the BRU 800 number to see if they knew when it would be available, and they said they did not know. I was about to go online to another website and begrudgingly order the Britax Pavillion. I was going to go with that one due to the good safety ratings, but I had read many mixed reviews stating that it was hard to use, especially for those that had already been using the Chicco Keyfit. I decided to give one last effort and call my local store to see if they happened to have any of the Nextfit in stock now and they said they did! So I high-tailed it over there, and there it was in the color and everything I wanted. I told the cashier what happened with my online order being cancelled and she gave me 20% off! I didn't even ask for it, I was just happy to get the product I wanted. I am thankful that our local store has good customer service, but this is not the first time I've had an issue with an online order through BRU. Glad it worked out well in the end. As far as the seat itself, the quality looks and feels superior to that of the Britax Marathon that was on display in the store. The Britax to me did not feel cushy at all. It felt like really hard plastic with material around it and very little cushioning. I wouldn't want to sit in that thing every day if it were me, so why would my daughter want to, right? The Nextfit wasn't too hard to install. I always have a problem trying to get the LATCH to buckle, but that is my issue and not a problem with the product. The Gemini color looks great in my car. I think the color combo is fine for either gender. She was a little fussy getting into the seat, but I had to make a few more adjustments. I couldn't figure out how to raise the straps at first, but it's actually the adjustment at the top of the headrest and it's really easy once I figured it out. As far as how much room it takes up, I installed it with it all the way reclined on number 1 and it takes up the exact same amount of room as her infant seat did. I did not have to move the front passenger seat up. I might even adjust it to the second or third position now that I know how she looks in it. This is only the first day we have used the seat, but I hope it works out well. The quality appears to be great so far.

We bought this seat three weeks ago for our 21 month old daughter. We previously had the Chicco Key 30 (carrier/car seat and stroller), and loved it. After looking around for a few months, we saw that Chicco was coming out with this new convertible seat, and knew that it would be the one for us.

The seat is super heavy duty, easy to install, and our daughter loves being able to see out the windows so much better. She is still in the rear facing position, but still has more than enough leg room. The straps on this seat are even better than the Key 30 and the latches are much more "toddler" proof. We loved this seat so much we bought a second one this last weekend to go in our other vehicle.

I love this car seat. I bought it for my 7 month old, as she's just about outgrown her infant carrier. Usually, installing a seat is a very, to say the least, intimidating process, even with LATCH. This seat, however, is worth its weight in platinum, if for nothing else the extreme ease of installation. For LATCH installation it is literally, click, click, pull, pull, ensure your bubble is in the level and you're off. I did not have to press (in two different cars), re-adjust (we are on recline 2 rear facing but I'm thinking we could also be at 3 if we wanted to be), or do any of the other kinds of maneuvering that you usually see being done during carseat installation.

Furthermore, the seat is a great, breathable material, the straps adjust easily, the purple color is really cute, and my baby is happy in the seat. The headrest (and non-rethread harness) also adjusts quite easily. Overall, I am quite happy with the seat, and it will likely fit her for quite a long time.

I have been waiting for months for this product to come out. My daughter is tall for her age (27 inches at 6 months). We had the Chicco Keyfit 30, and have used it since we brought her home from the hospital. We loved it. I did a ton of research for convertible carseats, and decided this was the best one. The seat is very heavy, but that is a good thing in my opinion. I feel like it is sturdy and safe. I installed it in my car yesterday. It took less than 5 minutes to properly install the seat. The latch system on this seat is super easy to tighten. In the past, I have sat in and kneeled in seats while pulling with all my might to get them tight enough. With this seat, all I had to do was pull each latch strap, and it was in super tight! I think that is my favorite feature so far. I also loved that 9 recline options. My car has pretty deep bucket seats in the back, and I didn't want to have to roll up a towel or something to get the proper recline. I didn't have any problems finding the correct angle. The bubble level feature is great! The only complaint I have is that the straps seem a little stiff, and it is a little tough to get them as tight as I like once the baby is in the seat. I feel like that problem will get better as we use the seat more. The seat is very well cushioned. I was pleased with how soft and comfy it feels. My daughter seemed comfortable in the seat. I would definitely recommend this to a friend!

We had the Keyfit 30 from birth to 10 mo and loved it. Though RK8 was getting too heavy to carry in the carrier, so I was leaving it in the car. RK8 also did not like being reclined so far in the infant carrier.
The transition to the Nextfit was obvious for us. We love Chicco, their safety ratings, and their customer service. The Nextfit was super easy to install. The 9 degrees of recline make it so RK8 can sit up more and be more comfortable. The seat is very soft and the fussing when getting in the seat has stopped. The purple is a beautiful muted color. I would highly recommend this seat!

Our daughter recently turned 1 and really does not like to recline as much as the infant seats do. She was not a happy rider. We had been researching seats and thought we had settled on the Britax Boulevard, until we sat her in one. Nothing against that seat it just was not a good fit for us and if Chicco was not coming out with the nextfit we probably would have gone with Britax for safety reasons.
We love the Chicco Nextfit, right out of the box! You can tell the quality right away. The fabric is soft and there is plenty of cushion and padding. I was very pleased at first sight. This is our 3rd child so we've had our share of car seats. This is by far the easiest seat to install and install correctly. You don't need to press all your weight in the seat and tug and pull. This feature alone is amazing, but it doesn't stop there. I love the 9 positions, although we can only use 1-3 in rear facing. Position 3 sits up quite a bit more than an infant seat. This is perfect for our daughter who would rather sit straight up than recline. Position 3 still has enough of a recline that her head does not fall forward when she sleeps. I am thrilled to have a seat that baby likes and can remain rear facing a bit longer. In the rear facing position the seat does not take up much more room than the chicco keyfit infant seat did. A lot of complaints with other convertable car seats is that they take up way to much room when used rear facing. Not this seat,we installed it in a Honda Odyssey behind the driver seat and it does not cause any issues with the seat. We didn't have to change the seat postion at all.
I also love that you don't have to rethread all the straps to adjust them. Adjusting is smooth and easy. The real test came when we had to make our first 40 minute trip (we make these weekly). She made it the entire way without any screaming, normally the screaming starts before we are even half way there.
I am very satisified with this purchase. I like that it is from a trusted company. I feel my baby is safe and happy riding in her new seat. I never thought I would spend this much on seat, but after researching and seeing what is available for the price I know I made the right choice. It's more about safety and comfort for my child than style. Using a 20% coupon also helps the pocket book. ;)
I can't say that the seat is lightweight, but neither would I say it is heavy. What I mean is. It's a comvertible seat, not an infant seat that is meant to be taken out and carried around. The seat was not too heavy or difficult to carry to the vehicle. To me it feels sturdy. Although with the insert and straps adjusted correctly I would feel safe using this seat with a newborn and infant I still would rather use an infant seat just for the ease and convenience of being able to remove the seat with a sleeping baby.
I really wish they would have come out with this seat sooner. I also wish they had more and brighter, cheerier color options like the keyfit 30's. The Gemini is more of a deep plum color, different than what it appears in the picture.
