I have an older First Act Discovery guitar (wooden) that I tune to a chord and the grand kids love to strum and pluck and make pleasant music. So I bought a new one for one of their birthdays. IT'S PLASTIC! The whole guitar is plastic! Sounds like plastic. Once it's tuned up the action is too high for a little kid. So if you hate guitar and want your kid to NOT play the guitar, this is the one for you! Once they try it they'll never try the guitar again and you can convince them to take up the piano or violin which is what you wanted in the first place.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
