My wife and I looked all over for the perfect crib. Some were tall and others were short. Some were horrible colors and others were bland. Some had interesting details on the back panel and others were plain jane. Some were cheap and others cost more than a king size bed. With so many choices to choose from, we spent many hours looking at cribs. We walked into Babies R Us one night looking for things to put on our registry. As my wife went to the bathroom I decided to walk through the crib section. I stumbled upon this crib and knew it was the one. I liked everything about it - it's not elegant but not boring. It's the color we want and the height is perfect (I'm just over 6' and my wife comes in at a staggering 5' 4" - the height of the crib is a bigger selling point than one might expect). When she saw the crib she knew it was the right one, too! She really likes the drawer that's under the bed and the "foldability" of the crib was definitely a plus (we'll be moving when our little guy is less than two years old - the easier the crib is to move the better!).

Fast forward a week after ordering it online (my in-laws wanted to buy it for us) and we picked it up at the store. The box was as a lot bigger than I was expecting - it almost didn't fit in my small SUV and it definitely won't fit in the trunk of any car (keep this in mind when ordering). The boxed crib weighs just shy of 105 pounds and is large enough to be awkward to move around. Luckily, we had a furniture dolly at home that made it easier to get the crib from the car to the nursery.

Upon cutting open the box you'll find the following: the mostly assembled crib, the mattress springs, and the nuts and bolts required to finish the assembly (plus enough styrofoam to make an indoor ski hill). Assembling this crib was quick, easy, and painless: 1. Unfold the back and side panels 2. Bolt the back panel to both side panels 3. Install the mattress springs at the desired height 4. Attach the front panel to the two side panels 5. Place the mattress (sold separately) in the crib. Really, it's that easy. Because the panels are meant to fold down for storage or moving they come out of the box attached with hinges to the base. It took us longer to get the crib out of the box than it did to actually assemble it. From opening the box to putting in the mattress I'd say we spent about 15 minutes putting this crib together.

The only con that I can think of right now is the drawer. It has rails like every other kind of drawer but it sits on the floor - having the crib on the carpet makes the drawer a little harder to pull out since you're basically dragging it across the carpet. I think this can easily be fixed by placing the crib on 1" furniture lifters. Or we may just leave it as is since the drawer will only be holding sheets. Regardless, this is one con that doesn't negatively affect our impression of the crib and it's easily worked around.

Overall, we definitely recommend this crib!

Comments about Baby Cache Metro Folding Crib - Espresso:

I wasn't originally looking at this crib I really wanted the babyletto crib in the white and espresso babies r us did not have it in stock and I needed a crib I just happen to be in store and saw this crib it looked almost the exact same but solid espresso. It has the drawer which is a must I need the extra storage. The crib is super easy to put together comes out I'f the box pretty much put together. The only down fall is it does not come with the toddler bed attachment you have to special order it so it ends up being the same price as the babyletto crib You think your saving but with the extra expense your not.

Comments about Baby Cache Metro Folding Crib - Espresso:

This crib was a perfect fit for our space limited home. We have a two bedroom home and we have a 22 month old also, so our little ones are going to have to share a room. A selling point for us was that the crib is easily moveable from room to room, since our youngest is sleeping in our room for now until we transition him into the kid's room. The crib is a full size crib but doesn't have a huge headboard. This is a very solid piece of furniture. The drawer underneath is also perfect for space limited situations. Very convenient!!

Comments about Baby Cache Metro Folding Crib - Espresso:

Originally, we were going to get a 4-in-1 crib. Also, I was interested in the Babyletto crib because of the modern look. Decided against the 4-in-1 because they are more bulky, and I have limited space. Decided against babyletto because we couldn't look at it in person, and I've read reviews about the pine not being as durable. So, we went with this crib, and I really like it. Don't have the baby yet though, so this is a pre-baby review. What I can say is that is was very easy to assemble. It has a somewhat modern look to it, and it was a good price. At first I wasn't as crazy about the drawer underneath because I liked the open area underneath some other cribs better, but now that we have it, I like the added storage. It also feels very sturdy, like it will last for a long time. I plan on co-sleeping with the crib flush with our mattress, and I feel this crib will accommodate that purpose good. I purchased a moonlight slumber little dreamer mattress (52"x27.5") and it fits PERFECT! Love that mattress too by the way. The drawer complaints I've read? Not as easy to open on carpet? Somewhat true, but it's not that hard to open either, and as the little one starts getting into things, that's probably better anyways. My ONLY complaint is that you can see the bolts for adjusting mattress height, but it's not a big deal. At least they are a nice color, and they don't stick out or anything. Overall, happy with purchase. Crib looks great, and can't wait to see the little one in it!

Comments about Baby Cache Metro Folding Crib - Espresso:

I was searching for a second crib to place in my master bedroom after I broke my leg & could no longer climb stairs to the main nursery. I found this under "travel cribs" but this is a full size, solid crib. It is a beautiful expresso color & it is very sturdy & does not move! My don is 25 lbs and very active & I feel safe with him in it.
The drawer was already put together & it took my husband about 45 min to bring it in & set it up. He said it was easy but heavy. There are 4 mattress positions & a standard crib mattress fits. I didn't have problems with the drawer opening as others mentioned, since I have hardwood floors. There was a slight smell for a few days but it has since gone away. It's a lovely crib that I will use for my second child & it was only 25% cost of the one I have upstairs. Wish I would've found this first! Oh, I purchased online & picked up at the store, never seeing crib in person. (Great service, by the way!) --- ps. This crib is not for folding under a bed or travel. It's a heavy, full size crib. Hope this helps someone!

Comments about Baby Cache Metro Folding Crib - Espresso:

This crib is perfect. Yes, it's a little pricey, but it is solid and has all the things we were looking for.
First of all, let me state that I am still pregnant and haven't actually let a baby sleep in it yet.
                      Pros:
                      1. The drawer! Who doesn't need more storage? I have read other reviews that state the drawer is hard to pull out on carpet. We have not had that problem at all.

                      2. SOLID. This crib is absolutely solid without being too heavy. We were able to easily move it into the spot we wanted it in. When I grab the railing to try and shake it (like a toddler might do), it doesn't budge at all.

                      3. I love that all the sides are the same height. In a small room it's nice to not be limited on where we want to put the crib. Cribs that have those tall/high back rails/headboards pretty much have to go against a wall and they just don't appeal to me.

                      4. The ability for it to convert to a toddler bed.

                      5. The multiple height levels for the mattress. Most cribs has this ability, but this crib seems very easy to change the height levels.

                      6. This crib is not a "mini crib". For some reason it is grouped in with the "mini" or "portable" cribs. This is a standard, full size crib.

                      7. Easy to assemble. We actually got this crib delivered and assembled. It only took 2 men 10 mins to get the crib upstairs and put together. That's pretty impressive.

                      Cons:
                      1. The only con I have is that this crib is only available in 1 color. It would have been nice to have it in white. With that being said, the Espresso color is classic and timeless.

I would recommend this crib to anyone who wants a sturdy crib that will last through multiple babies!

We bought this crib today in preparation for our first baby. We loved this one because it's gender neutral (in case of second baby), the sturdiness, and the color was beautiful. The design is modern but still cozy. Putting the crib together was extremely simple, it basically opens like a box and you screw the screws into place. When we had finished building the crib at home, we weren't disappointed. It's very well made and a beautiful crib.I didn't give it five stars because when we opened the box, the hinge was broken, and a screw had already been ripped out somehow. We managed to hammer the hinge back into working place and later found the screw loose in the box. But to pay such an amount for these small defects was not satisfactory to us.
