First it was easy to assemble. No weird Allen wrenches needed just an easy assembly. The bikes look beautiful. The baskets are off center tho and the doll seats are a SUPER DUPER pain to get on. You have to get them bolted to the frame and your fingers don't really fit and in the end the stupid bolts fell out and I have to buy new ones and do it all again. Just as reported the doll handle bars are flimsy so never hold on to them or they will brake. Just treat them gently and they will be fine. One of the snaps for the doll seat covers was broken right from the start but oh well, life goes on.

When I bought the bikes the girls were about 43-44" tall (4 and 5 years old but tall for their age) and this year their both about 4'. The 16" are perfect for this age! Yes, we'll have to get bigger bikes sooner but I wanted something that was their size so they could learn to ride without extra barriers like a too big bike. We spent the summer last year with the training wheels on both. So as such the training wheels are both pretty worn but could easily go another year.

This spring both my girls learned to ride. The bikes are the perfect size and weight for them to sit and start alone, unlike the bigger bikes their grandparents have, the girls cannot start those alone. And let me tell you, you get irritated fast trying to go for a bike ride when you have to keep getting off to start them riding. Adjusting the seat is easy, you have to adjust it not only up and down but also front to back. It takes a bit but not hard at all.

Taking the training wheels off only took about 5 minutes a bike. Adjusting the seat took a bit longer and to be honest they prob need to go up more but I wanted them to be able to touch the ground while sitting at first. The bikes are awesome! My girls love the doll seats and the sparkly dangles on the handlebars. It took my youngest about 30 minutes to learn to ride tho we did ride the balance bike a lot last summer.

    My complaints are:
It doesn't come with a kickstand so we have to buy those this year
The doll seats are a bit flimsy and the bolts fall off
    The baskets are crooked
And there are not any reflectors

    My compliments are:
Perfect size and weight for little girls
They look beautiful and are not pink
    They are strong sturdy bikes
    The seats are SUPER comfy
    All the mud guards
    Great tires
And per my daughters the American Girl Doll seats are the best. That and there is a matching doll bike for like $20 bucks!

I totally advise this for a first bike. Sure it will only fit them for a few years but when starting out you can't go wrong with this bike. Just be aware of the doll handlebars.

My daughter got this bike for her birthday April 2012 and totally fell in love with it. She rode it a few times a week during the summer. One day early September as she was riding the bike one of the pedal fell right off. This bike was bought pre-assembled at Toys R US. As we attempted to reattach the pedal, it came apparent that it was forced on during the original assemble and the threads were no good. After trying to get it repair/replaced at Toys R US they informed me that because it was pass its warranty period they can not do anything about the improperly assembled bike they sold us. Also, the doll seat is a cute touch, but very flimsy and broke off very easily.
Beware of the pre-assembled bikes they sell. When they low quality workmanship falls apart on you, they will not accommodate for their errors.

When my daughter turned 5, she was ready for a bike at the next size up. She was also ready to leave the "character" bikes behind. This was a great compromise because it still allows her "babies" to ride along. We think it will grow with her for awhile. It's a very nice bike!

My daughter loves this bike! She loves that she can take a stuffed animal along for the ride. I read reviews that the doll seat & handles break easily, we have not had that experience yet. We are cautious with those parts though.

The bike looks nice but it is not. The handlebar to the doll seat came off only after a few hours of light use. Once put together the bike was very noisy I assume because its all metal but that is nothing wd-40 couldnt fix.all together just a poorly made product. No wonder it was on sale!

The first time we ordered it the frame was twisted, one reflector arrived broken, and there was an obvious scratch in the paint that the company touched up instead of replacing the part! When we exchanged and reorder the back finder for the tire was bent and the metal piece where the baby doll sits was bent! We are returning this bike as well and do not plan on getting another! The only good part of the experience was the exchange was easy and simple in the store even though I ordered online!

I bought this bike for my twin 6 year olds. They have Journey Girl dolls and the bike was very sturdy, reasonably priced, and was nice looking (and the only choice that wasn't pink and glittery). The store assembled it very well. One of the twins broke the doll handlebar, but other than that the bike has been great. Any other issues (bent mud guard, basket falling off) are common with kids' bikes and children's wear and tear and easily fixed if you are handy. I would definitely buy this bike again.

Not worth the money. When we first put it together the wheel fender was bent and rubbing on the tire. My husband was able to fix it (He use to repair bikes and actually was a bike tech at TRU part time). He was able to fix that, then a few days later the babydoll handle broke off, and then the actual baby seat fell off about 2 months into having it. I would not waste my money on this bike. I would have rated it lower but my daugther does keep her bike out in the weather and we have not had any problems with rust or looking aged. We bought it back in the middle of July and now we are approaching November. Also I am sure the seat broke off due to her throwing it down, so this bike needs a kick stand

Comments about Huffy Bicycles Girls' 16 Inch Avigo Journey Girls Bike:

The bike is adorable, and it really wasn't bad to put together... until I got to the doll seat in the back! PUT THAT ON FIRST! (or you will be taking a bunch of things apart to do so at the end). There was no good way to screw the doll seat together from the bottom with the tire, so I had to take the whole back apart, (but I'm not much for directions so there might have been a better fix along the way). She loves it, and it's so cute watching her bring her dollie with her!
