Back when the sopwith camel came out last year, i said that it would be a great idea to create another aircraft that was based off of a real aircraft, which is whhat they did here. although a WWII fighter was never painted with this livery, is is based off of the Douglas SBD Dauntless, a fighter that served through the heart of WWII, from 1940 to 1944, likely in the pacific theater. originally i had wished that Lego would have made a P-51 Mustang (which inspired the name for the famous ford Mustang sports car) or a B-25 Mitchell bomber (the type of plane used to bomb tokyo in the movie PEARL HARBOR) and be made as a special edition like the Sopwith, but creator did a good job making a plane based off a plane, like back in 2009 with Sonic Boom, which it was based off of the Eurofighter Typhoon and the McDonnel Douglas F-4 Phantom. Plus better with the price tag too. Whats next, a jet based off of the SR-71 Blackbird spyplane? Who knows?!

My son loves Legos
Legos always keeps my son entertained for a long time. It's sad that they have to be so pricey because I would love to buy more for him.

Comments about LEGO Creator Aviation Adventures (31011):
The tail wheel moves back and forth which makes it especially interesting. Lots of cool details. Also, the 3-in-1 option makes it even better.

Best Lego Plane Ever Made
from Warner Robins
This set is amazing and great for play! This is definitely my favorite plane set. I love the way it looks but the best thing about it is definitely how the propeller spins by moving the back wheel. I also like that it's large.

About Me Education Oriented, Parent Of Two Or More Children, Working Parent
Our six-year-old son received this Lego set for Christmas. He loved the challenge of 600+ pieces. Originally, our son wanted dad to help out but after a while our son took over the entire construction. I enjoyed this Lego set because it took him most of the day to build it. He'd work in it an hour then take a break. He was so proud of his final project. It is still in airplane form but I look forward to the weekend he decides to rebuild it as one of the other two options.

My 11 year old son is pleased
from Shenandoah Valley, VA
It took my son approximately 5 hours to assemble this. The smaller kits take him almost no time to assemble, so I was glad this took him all afternoon, he enjoyed putting it together, and is very happy with the finished airplane. He intends to keep the airplane intact, and not build the other options it could create. Propeller spins, canopy comes off, wheels move, he plays with it just like a toy airplane.

Unique elements in quantity
(Having a bug where "cost" shows twice - it was about 60 dollars for this set. Also, both "easy" and "difficult" assembly got checked - given the nature of lego sets, assembly is whatever you make it (this is the appeal of Lego blocks))If you're interested in a good airplane project, you may wish to grab this set - if only for the elements. The hinges and angled plates are helpful in aircraft (and also ship) builds. Moreover, two unique exhaust pipe elements are ideally suited to trucks or aircraft. In this specific set, the large airplane build proved slightly confusing during assembly. Moreover, the final product had a tail wheel which could be slid back & forth to rotate the propeller - not exactly perfect realism. However, this design has several benefits: it includes a rack & pinion gear set, a special element for the 3-bladed prop (very good to have) and a specially sized cowling. It can be an informative introduction to technic elements within block & plate builds.

My husband and I put these together. It seems like it would be hard for a young kid. It was alot of fun and the plane is huge!
My Favorite Set So Far
This is the coolest set I've ever owned, and is the coolest ever LEGO airplane besides the Sopwith Camel, which is $40 more than this one. The building process takes a while, but that doesn't bother me. It was fun to sift through all the awesome pieces and see the ingenuity behind this set's design. Pros: -Thick fuselage and deep wings create a heft that adds to the authenticity of the plane. -The gear system for activating the propeller is awesome. You can open up the engine and just stare at the gears as they spin. Makes me happy. -The color scheme isn't red like almost every other vehicle set in the history of LEGO. -The sliding back canopy is awesome. -The wheels fold into the undercarriage. -It looks so awesome. Great design. Con (that's right, just one): It didn't come with a mini figure (which doesn't bother me much, but I wouldn't complain if it had a pilot with it) Overall, I'd say it's more than worth the purchase. I highly recommend it for both LEGO fans and aviation aficionados. The plane is based pretty heavily on the SBD Dauntless, an American dive-bomber in service during World War II. Super cool.
