Comments about Chicco Polly Magic High Chair - Solare:

I have been very impressed with this chair. All the adjustments are very easy to perform. It is light and very portable. Our 3 month old looks very comfortable in this chair in the reclined position. We have used it for bottle feeding and for playing with small toys. The colors are subtle and the chair tucks behind our couch nicely when not in use. The 'Magic' model looks far more expensive than the original Polly for only $10 more. I would recommend this chair even for very small infants in the reclined position.

Comments about Chicco Polly Magic High Chair - Solare:

This is one of the only high chairs that does this type of full recline that you can safely put your newborn in. My baby is close at dinnertime, and when I'm cooking in the kitchen. We have always loved the Chicco high chairs, but this one has such better materials. The faux leather material is so soft and very easy to wipe up. The high chair is light and folds up pretty small. You can lower it to be right by you at the dinner table or at the couch. The net underneath is great for storing bibs and wipes.

Only wish I have for this highchair, is that it had a place to attach the tray when it's not in use. I put it up against the wall, so no big, but it would be nice if it was attached to the highchair legs or something.

Comments about Chicco Polly Magic High Chair - Solare:

I'm overall quite happy with my purchase. I was looking for something neutral, on wheels, reclines for bottle feeding, and folds up for storage and I think Chicco Polly Magic fits all my criteria for the price. I was comparing it with the Peg Perego Pappa Diner and the Inglesina Zuma, both of which were more expensive than Chicco.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this project and would like to echo what another reviewer mentioned about the wheels locking by itself. Yes, they do lock-up by itself, but so far it's just been 1 out of the 4 that did that. I'm not terribly bothered by it. just have to go slow.

Another thing is the crotch attachment which attaches to the tray itself. I find this odd because the crotch is supposed to temporarily hold the child in the chair while you wrestle with all your other mommy duties. Without the crotch on the seat itself, I have to buckle her in everytime I put her in the chair. Hence the crotch attachment to the tray serves no purpose and actually prevents you from laying the tray flat on the table when u remove it. I solved this problem by leaving the crotch attachment off. The attachment is not something that you can take on and off and the product seems to function better without it.

Overall I am very happy with my purchase. The cream colored pleather upholstery fits with my decor. my daughter loves to watch me cook in the her chair.

Comments about Chicco Polly Magic High Chair - Solare:

First off, I love Chicco products. 99% of our "essential" baby gear is Chicco - Keyfit infant carseat, NextFit convertible carseat, Cortina single stroller, Echo umbrella stroller, Keyfit Caddy stroller, Lullaby Magic playard, Ultrasoft Magic infant carrier...you get the idea. And I love every single one of them EXCEPT for this high chair. Here's why:

                PROS:
Material - SUPER easy to wipe clean. Dries quickly. Love this. Note: the lighter color can stain easily when the kiddo is eating orange/red anything (spaghetti sauce, pureed carrots, etc.) so you got to be quick about wiping stains up, but I don't think that's a deal breaker. Plus a quick rub down with the magic eraser gets most of the stains out. It's also very plush and comfy.

Foldability - it is VERY easy to quickly close the legs of this high chair and fold down the arms so it is more compact and can be stored or placed against a wall and not be in the way. This was a major draw for us as we have limited kitchen space and didn't want to be constantly tripping over it.

Adjustability - it is VERY easy to adjust this high chair for different sized kids/babies. It tilts back for smaller babies with a simple lever and even the legs go up and down easily if you want to pull it up to your table. It's very easy to change the height and angle. That was also a big draw for us.

Detachable tray - this isn't a unique feature, most high chairs have this and I wouldn't buy one without it...but I'm including it because it's definitely a pro to have this. It's super easy to attach and detach the tray and super easy to clean. And it's dishwasher safe (though hand washing is so quick and easy I do that most of the time).

Storage basket - This is a great concept and if/when we do leave the high chair open I can air dry bibs in it.

                CONS:

Wheel locks - UGH. These need major improvement. The wheels are great, however there are four of them and a lock on each one of them that slide down to lock. And they do that when I roll the high chair across the floor. Not all of them, and it's at random so I start rolling the high chair and it jerks and stops suddenly, so I have to sit and try to feel with my toe to figure out which one has locked up, and often have to bend down because I'm barefoot and can't get the lock back up with my toe. It is SO incredibly annoying and happens nearly EVERY time I move the high chair across the floor. Perhaps I have faulty wheels? I don't know. But my poor child gets jerked around so much when he's in the chair and and I have to move it. It's also difficult being pregnant having to bend down to unlock wheels that I never locked in the first place! I suppose on the flip side...the locks work really well and you don't have to worry about the high chair going anywhere when even just one of them is locked...

Arms - these are seriously the bane of my existence. I hate hate hate how the tray attaches to the arms and the arms themselves. I love that they easily move up and down to adjust or get them out of the way, however I HATE how they attach together. There are holes/squares on the inside of each arm that lock into the tray. Except you have to get it EXACTLY right or you will have one side locked in further than the other side. It doesn't just slide on either. SO many times I have slid the tray on thinking it was locked only to have it flip off! SO many times. The same goes for moving it to lift out your child. Food all over the tray, I try to slide it out just a notch so I can get my kid out only to find that it is no longer notched at all and the entire tray flips off, food and all. This happens so so so often. And to me this IS a deal breaker. No other high chair I have ever tried has ever been this difficult to put on and remove the tray. It is a MAJOR design flaw in my opinion and every time it happens I scream that I hate the high chair and am getting rid of it. In addition, because the arms are adjustable and move up and down so easily, they aren't very sturdy. This means when it's notched in and not on the last setting (so it's right up against your kid's chest), the weight of the tray with food/drink pulls the tray down and the surface isn't level (aka, a cup will tip over). These issues with the tray and arms would make me advise against purchasing this high chair to anyone, despite other great features. The main functionality of the high chair is severely affected due to these design flaws.

Crevices - there are a LOT of crevices on this high chair that are nearly impossible to clean. The tray itself (not the part you can snap out) has a seam right around the middle of it that is like a millimeter wide. It attracts everything and is impossible to get clean. The notch holes/squares in the arms require a q-tip to get clean. Who has time for that!? At the back end of each of the arms, where it attaches to the chair (where it rotates up/down) there is a space to allow for the rotating that catches food that is too small to fit your finger in to get out. But perfect for cheerios, puffs and small pieces of food to lodge into. It also requires a q-tip to clean. Oh, and if it was liquid/puree that has dried...even harder. Even this I could deal with though if it weren't for the above two issues.

Straps - I don't love these. It takes a lot of work to change the height. It's no different than the Cortina stroller, but I want it to be as easy as the NextFit where you just press a button and slide the head thing up or down the straps move with it. This could be a huge improvement for Chicco - especially since you HAVE to have your kid harnessed in if you remove the tray as the leg separator is connected to the tray. If you are using the high chair for more than one kid of different ages, getting the "perfect" fit will take far too long and you'll probably opt to leave it at one setting and just not strap one of them in...which can complicate things when you're trying to clean both trays AND want to leave them in...

Tray storage - I don't get this oversight. The high chair was made to be SO easy to fold and store, move the handles up and out of the way...but there is no place to lock the tray onto the high chair when it's folded! You can try sliding it onto the upright handles but it doesn't lock and if you bump it, it will crash to the ground. And since the leg separator is attached to the tray, it sticks out and makes the tray very very difficult to store anywhere (you will also need a big sink in order to clean that part of the tray because it sticks out so far).

For as expensive as this high chair is and as "cream of the crop" it's touted to be...I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with something else that doesn't have these (in my opinion) major design flaws that severely inhibit its ability to function as you would expect a high chair to. I'll happily give up some of the features I love to not have to deal with the issues. I have been threatening to replace this for a year now and once we have our next baby and I have time to research a better replacement I will!

I love this high chair!! The off white and black are just my taste! My son loves to be in his high chair. Whether it's lunch or dinner time or he's in there with some toys while I cook/clean, he's completely happy. The reclining feature is perfect for bottle feeding, especially since I had two surgeries with long recoveries which is why nursing didn't work. The only negative thing with this high chair is that it isn't tall enough for my table. The height of the chairs to my table are comparable to bar stools. Otherwise I am 100% satisfied with my purchase!!

Beautifully upholstered chair with a few flaws

                  from Undisclosed

Comments about Chicco Polly Magic High Chair - Solare:

I bought this chair for my 9 month old.  She's just learning to feed herself and this chair wipes off easily.  Soft foods have a tendency to smear into the seams and cracks but they are easily wiped away with a second swipe. The upholstery is the reason I purchased the magic over the vinyl Polly. Totally worth the extra $. The only complaints I have are regarding the tray. The tray has a plastic support that slides between your child's legs so that they don't slide out the bottom and this piece makes it impossible to simply remove the tray and set it on the counter or table flat. It also makes storage rather cumbersome. If you use the harness this plastic piece seems unnecessary and gets in the way. My next issue is with, you guessed it, the tray. The removable top tray is a fantastic idea but it doesn't roll over the sides of the main tray far enough and liquid oozes in and becomes trapped between the trays. If my messy daughter feeds herself I end up having to clean both trays. Lastly, why, why, why does this tray not snap on the back of the chair for storage? Seriously!?! What a huge oversight/design flaw!  The cheaper model has a tray that stores on the chair legs so why am I paying more for fewer features?  Even with my disappointments I'm still pleased with my purchase but I have decided to save a few bucks and get the cheaper Polly with the tray storage for my parents house.  I love the soft upholstery on this model compared to the plastic crunchy vinyl on the regular Polly but the lack of tray storage coupled with the price difference doesn't justify a repurchase.
