The 3 year old, the 8 year old and the 13 year old all love playing this game. There are age-appropriate challenges for all 3 of them, though there are few times when the 3 year old needs help. But he can usually figure it out all on his own.

The graphics are amazing - you can see the characters reflections and shadows; you can interact with all of the people/places/things in a physics-based environment (when you're going really fast and you crash, the pieces skitter down the street) - makes it fun for adults as well.

I like the Lego brand of humor - they poke fun at themselves at times, and think it is age appropriate for anyone old enough to play video games. Some of the humor is clearly targeting older players (ex. - Spiderman is full of angst), but is not inappropriate - it just goes over the younger kids' heads.

I think some of the characters are obscure and have redundant super powers, but part of the challenge of the game is to unlock all of them - which keeps you busy for a good long while. Santa brought us this game for Christmas, and we're just nearing the completion at the end of March (probably averaging half an hour per day).

I also like that they have used some of the real actors from the movies, in addition to taking care to be true to the character's personalities - the Lego folks do a nice job.

As an adult playing alongside all 3 of my children, one of the things I appreciate about this game (as opposed to some of the other Lego games), is that the lighting and graphic size perspective/relationships are better (not sure how to say that the characters are big enough to see without being too close to them) makes it easy for me to play. Some of the best fun we've had with the game is simply playing tag on the streets of New York - on foot, on motorcycles, in cars, in planes - and this game makes that easy.

Like I said, it's ok. The game play is weird to me. It's not self explanatory, you have to really work to figure it out. It's very expensive for what it is. Over all, I'm not impressed. It's probably a little young themed for kids over 10, which is what they recommend. But it's too hard for my 6 year old who loves the Legos. I think the game needs some improvement and focus on the age group it is meant for. It's a game with young kids in mind but controls for an older kid. Just my opinion.

We LOVE these lego-theme video games. I think it's brilliant to have things, and people, just break apart into lego components when you smash them. Non-violent, but still get to chase and catch bad guys.
