I am so glad that Lego released more Attack of the Clones sets this summer so now on to the set. Minifigures: Yoda: My favourite minifigure in the set. I think his brand new headpiece is really detailed and Lego did a great job on that. Count Dooku: Finally a movie version of Dooku. I like this figure much better than the Clone Wars design. He is very detailed and quite movie accurate because he only has one lightning accessory. He also has the same head as Saruman the White because both are played by the same actor. Poggle the Lesser: Even though Poggle isn't supposed to be in this scene, I think it's alright because I've been waiting for a Poggle figure and I think Lego couldn't have designed him any better. FA-4: The new version of FA-4 is much better and accurate than the Clone Wars version which looked weird. Now on to the set. A great design on this was the landing pad where Dooku can leave his speeder as he battles Yoda. Then on the top of the archway is a detachable lamp and two flick fire lamps which Dooku throws at Yoda in the duel. Next to the main archway is a hidden compartment for Dooku's lightning which can be stored inside a crate. Under the smaller archways are two other play features which are a flick fire rock and a rod to attach to Yoda's back to re-enact the movie scene where he jumps and flips all over the hangar. At the end of the hangar is the toppling column which falls over when a lever is turned. This is also from a scene in the movie where Dooku uses the Force to topple the column to crush Anakin and Obi-Wan. Conclusion: Yoda: 10/10 Dooku: 10/10 Poggle: 10/10 FA-4: 10/10 This is a great buy for £40!

This set has very good characters, all of which are very detailed and unique. Count Dooku is especially impressive, and comes with force lightning, which is an important part to this scene in the movie. The only negative aspects I see are: (a) the flick-fire missiles, and the "exploding wall" function, because they aren't very creative or interesting. (b) Count Dooku's speeder, which is identical to the separatist speeder in the set 75012 "BARC speeder with sidecar". I would recommend this set because it displays an iconic scene in the movies, and the characters are really great!

      Pretty Good Lego Set

      By Matthew2D

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Duel on Geonosis (75017):

This is a pretty good lego set. You get some very nice mini figures, LOVE the Poggle mini figure (awesome detail), and some cool play features (I'm more of a collector, so I don't play with the lego sets :P), though I'm not seeing the $40 price tag. I think $35 would have been a better price. Though maybe the the mini figures made it worth the price. I think it would have been awesome if it came with Anakin (with green lightsaber) and obi-won minifigures. I probably would have paid $40-45 for it if it came with those.

No, try not. Build, or build not. There is no try.

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Duel on Geonosis (75017):

This set is a great set, it really is. I won't go into too much detail, but even though it may not be the best looking set, it really is one of the most functional sets I've ever seen. The set really is built around the duel, not the place. In fact, I would have said "It is obvious this review cannot be decided by this set's details and asthetics, but by its skills and functions," as the title, but it was too long, so I went with a yoda quote from episode 5 instead. Sorry guys. Anyway, as usual this review is going to get long probably, so if you don't feel like going into too much detail and just want to know whether or not you should buy it, and why, then scroll down to the Final Verdict section. But if you want specifics, on with the review. Minifigures: Yoda: This Yoda minifigure is amazing. The robes are cool and all, but the real highlight is the face mold. Its a different shade of green that the old Yoda minifigure of course, since his skin was different in the prequels, but the biggest improvement is that there's actual printing for the eyes and hair. I don't even care that it took so long, since there weren't many sets with him in it between his last appearance before this, and now. The head is made of rubber, but I don't think that's a problem, I just mention it because I know some people care about that. Poggle the Lesser: If you don't know who this is, he's the Geonosian that appears throughout Episode II. I don't particularly like or dislike this minifigure, because I never really cared about the character that much, but it does look cool. It's very detailed and awesome. Count Dooku's droid.. thing: I don't know what this droid does, or what its name is, or why it was included in this set..... but it sure does look awesome! Count Dooku (A.K.A Darth Tyranus): This figure looks cool. Really, really cool. His face printing is great, his hair is kinda overused but great, everything is super detailed and super great. Not much else to say really. Moving on! Set: Speeder: There's nothing really special about this speeder. Its cool and all, but I almost forgot it was there once the awesome set was finished. So um, good try LEGO, but you know you have a problem when your own set overshadows itself. Room, lair, thingy: The reason I don't know what to call this room isn't because of my ignorance (not completely anyway) but because it really is all about the duel itself and not the room. It has a lot of function and ways to recreate moves that were in the movies. This ends up being a double edged lightsaber, so to speak, and since I hate to leave off on a bad note (unless a set actually is bad, then what the heck, why not) I'll save the good part of this for last. Anyway, the bad part is that it means besides the figures, this set really is a total recreation of that single scene. Unlike most (key word most) LEGO sets, you can't do much with your imagination to make up your own scenarios with this set. Its about Yoda and Dooku's fight, and thats about it. Anyway, that was short wasn't it? Now for the good part. Okay, anyway, the functions on this set are really cool. I let my sister build half of this set, so I might not have even noticed all of them (yet) but the major ones I noticed are 1: The lights, though possibly not intentionally, pop out like flick fire missiles, except less annoying. 2: One of the rocks pops out to hit the minifigures. 3: One of the rocks opens up to reveal a secret storage. I use it to store Dooku's lightning when he isn't holding it, or his lightsaber, or even both, but most standard, small items fit inside. Like, oh, I don't know, the death star plans. 4: There's a stick thing that you attack yoda to in order to make him do all his cool flips and jumps. At first I thought this was really cool, and it would be perfect for making a stop motion..... until I actually built it and it was really flimsy and weak. Unless you are holding it still, it keeps moving around, which I guess is okay for playing but not at all okay for stop motion. And, unless you hold yoda himself and not the stick thing, he turns upside down, so you might as well get rid of the stick thing and make him flip with your hands. This is a shame because I like making stop motions (even though I may not be incredibly good at it) and so I was really excited when I saw that feature. Final Verdict: Okay, this is a really cool set, but sadly I think in this case the cons are just as numerous, and major, as the pros. Its cool how functional this set is, but really there isn't much room for you to use your imagination, and some of the functions aren't even that cool. Also, I didn't mention the aesthetics that much because they aren't anything super special. Thankfully, the figs are so cool they almost make up for that, but it isn't enough to save this set. Really, the cons and the pros balance out, but since each pertains to a different part of the set, I'll have to give it 3 scores and 3 grades. Minifigures and some small parts of the set Score: 10/10 Grade: A+ Set itself: Score: 7/10 Grade: B- Average: Score: 9/10 Grade: A Well that's it for this review. I probably should rate it lower but.... Those minifigures are just so cool!

Hi, It's Masterx again with another review! I got this set yesterday and I must say I am very pleased. The designer that made this set desevers a medal or something, this set is pure genius! Anyway on to the review. MINIFIGURES: 1. Count Dooku Equipment: Unique silver lightsaber and (my first) lightning elemet. 2. Poggle the Lesser Equipment: Death Star plans and cane. (I used the one that came in the set for Yoda because Poggle should have a white cane, so I dug in my collection and found a gray one for him.) 3. Count Dooku's pilot droid 4. Yoda Eqipment: Green lightsaber and crazy Force back neck piece. THE SET 1. Cool movie accurate Count Dooku's speeder. 2. Great build. 3. Awesome hidden cabinet for hiding plans, lightning, lightsaber. 4.Cool flick fire lamp things. 5. Awesome Yoda Force jump function. 6. Great falling tower. WEll, untill next time, this is Masterx!

            "Strong you have become, Dooku!"

            By JabbaThePumpkinHead

            from Indianapolis

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Duel on Geonosis (75017):

At long last, we finally have a new wave of episode two sets. When I saw this, I just had to get it. I mean, it comes with a redesigned Yoda, a place for him to duel, Dooku's speeder, and even a falling pillar. This is one of my favorite Lego Star Wars sets I own(And I own quite a few). So, without further ado, to the review. The Build This build was actually very fun. I enjoyed it quite a bit. It won't take too long to assemble, but it takes long enough to still be fun. It is never repetitive, and was very enjoyable. However, this doesn't really matter, I just thought I'd mention it, you do not receive all the minifigures in one bag. If you want to have them all, you are going to have to build this set. The Minifigures This set includes some of my favorite minifigures of any of the new sets. We have a new Yoda, and I have been waiting for him for a LONG time. First we had the original Yoda, but mine somehow went missing. Then we were treated to the Clone Wars Yoda, who I really wasn't fond of. But now we have this new one, and I think he may be my favorite of them all! Luckily, I don't think his paint will rub off, for those of you who had the clone wars Yoda. Also, this set comes with Count Dooku, who is one of my favorite Star Wars villains. This new one is awesome, and has a double sided face(One normal, one evilly grinning). He's one of my favorite new minifigures. Also included is Poggle the Lesser, finally in Lego form. Great job Lego. Last, and least for sure, is the weird droid that pilots Dooku's Solar Sailer. Not much to say about him, but I'm glad he was included. The Set This set has lots of fun features. It has a falling pillar, those two light things that Dooku sends flying at Yoda, an opening rock thing? and a speeder. This set has lots of things to like about it, and has a lot of fun things. I really like this set, it's good for play and display(I just made a rhyme!). Overall This set is great, and I highly recommend it. If you want it only for the minifigures, well, it's not that expensive. But both the minifigures and the set itself are fun and creative. I hope to see more sets like this in the future, Lego! Review written by, Jabba The Pumpkin Head P.S. If you enjoyed this review, a helpfulness vote would be great! Also, don't forget to check out my other reviews. Thanks!

Comments about LEGO Star Wars Duel on Geonosis (75017):

This is a wonderful set, with lots of welcome details and great new minifigures! I was very excited about the new Dooku and Yoda minifigures, and the whole kit is really detailed and movie accurate. The only bone I have to pick with it is that it's missing Anakin and Obi-Wan. The duel was mainly about Obi-wan vs. Dooku and Anakin vs. Dooku, and Yoda only came at the very end. I felt they were important to add to the set. But I suppose if they did add 2 more figures, the price would go up another $5. Overall, a great set!
