We tried other gates and only this one would stay put with our uneven walls and even over our trim. Other people have complained about it but if you follow the directions on how to use it, it is fantastic. I bought two!

My husband and I bought this gate before we even did our registry to try it out because we knew we needed SEVERAL gates... It is great, we have a puppy and a baby and it fits in our abnormal doorways, in our stairwell and in my kitchen, plus it doesn't HAVE to be mounted, so I can move it EASILY from room to room! We now have several of them.

I really love this gate! The place I am renting has really uneven walls and we had trouble finding a gate that would work. But this gate is perfect for the uneven walls! I am actually going to purchase another one for the top of my stairs.

We purchased two and installed them at top/bottom of stairs. Very secure when closed. However, if you do not lift up firmly when opening, the door does not retract enough so when you go to close it, it does not align with the stops. You have to reset the door (which takes two hands - difficult if you are holding a baby) in order to make it align correctly again. Also, if you lift too hard, you'll actually lift the door out of the hinges! I found this VERY dangerous. It's kind of a pain to use, but I like the fact that the panels are solid.

After reviewing several gates and there reviews we decided to try this gate. We have installed it at the top of our steps. Easy to install and the one handed opening of the gate is GREAT. We have had no problems and it is very sturdy. I would recommend this gate to anyone.

Easier to use than other plastic gates with handle that is on track. We are changing out our old gates for this one.

I bought this gate to move between different doorways because the "auto fit" feature sounded perfect for our baseboard moldings. I was immediately surprised at the plastic panels where there is typically mesh or a grid pattern (aka breathable if a child's face were up against it). [It comes in a sealed box, due to the optional mounting hardware, so I was not able to inspect it in the store.]My next negative surprise was when I tried to use the "easy release/adjust" handle. It is neither easy to release nor to adjust. For nearly [$], I would have expected that the mechanism would have slid the panels apart. Again, due to the solid plastic panels, it's difficult to grab the frame and slide the panels to fit the doorway.When I tried to set it up using the tension mount it was quite wobbly. It only took two moderate wiggles to come loose from it's position. My son would have pulled it right down on top of himself in one pull. I tried it in another location and the same thing happened. Despite the high price tag and reportedly easy-to-use top handle mechanism, I'm truly surprised that Safety 1st makes such a poorly constructed product. It's going back to the store tomorrow!

I had this gate for the staits that go to the basment for my 1 yr old.Needless to say it was a pain just to open it . It would stick and within a week my 1 yr old broke it by running into it with his walker and it broke and he went down the stairs!!!He is not a big boy he's average size.It should of never happened.We had to throw it out ,because it fell apart.Don't buy it get something built better.

this is a great product. people say when they try to fix it it hard, well i dont think so if you don't read the directions of course it will be hard. it is very sturdy and good.

We bought this gate to keep our dogs out of the hallway leading to the baby's room. I tried to pressure mount it myself and after 30 minutes of fighting w/ it I gave up and waited for my husband to get home. He struggled a bit too as it does not easily release. Once he did get it mounted we decided to just step over it -which is very inconvenient for a pregnant woman- because it was too hard to re-mount each time. Also, after moving it a few times to different locations to see what worked best, it stripped the paint right off the wall where it was mounted. VERY IRRITATING and more so because it our hallway is an extremely hard to match coral/orangey shade that now has white holes in it where the gate was. Also, it never mounts straight on the wall either...always somewhat crooked. I will be returning it and getting a walk-thru gate instead. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME & MONEY!!!!!!!!!!
