We have had this gate since before our daughter was born as we used it to keep our dog out of the kitchen. It's such a great gate! It's very sturdy and pressure mounted, with little brackets that you screw into the wall. We have used it between our kitchen and living room for the last 8 months, and the walls are not directly straight across so the gate sits at a slight angle. It works perfectly even at an angle! Our daughter (now 16mos) goes up to the gate and shakes it back and forth (jailhouse style :) ) and it's incredibly secure even with this! It's very easy to install and remove (like when we've had to move furniture between the rooms). We've used it at the base of the stairs before, too, and the width is really easy to adjust to what you need. The height is really great, as well. The only downside is that it doesn't have a way to keep the gate open, like if you're bringing groceries in or something, but it's not a big deal.

Easiest setup and installation of any gate I've ever used. Out of the box, extensions installed, and in place in under 5 minutes. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. I can't speak of durability yet as it's brand new but I prefer this gate over other brands I've tried.

Purchased the gate in October and the gate was broken by December. The hinges are made of cheap plastic and cracked shortly after purchasing the gate. Soon after that, the hinges broke completely causing the swinging gate door to fall off. My husband and I were the only ones who used the gate to keep our dog in the kitchen. I can only imagine how much more quickly it would have broken had it been used with a toddler. Don't waste your money on this product.

The first gate I bought came with the bottom hinge pre-broken. After exchanging it, I spent over 1 1/2 hours trying to get the gate to work. Everytime I tightened the top enough so that the top latch would engage, then the bottom latch side would slide up the wall( I was just using it in the friction only mode, not securing to a wall as I am renting) which would cause the bottom latch to just hit the frame and never latch. The few times I could get both latches to engage, the top still felt very flimly. After shaking it some it would pop open. Not what I need! I finaly gave up trying to adjust it and am taking it back for a different brand. Stay away from this one. I would give this zero stars if it would have let me.

Bought this gate for the top of a steep flight of stairs. It took a while for us and our 8 yr old daughter to get used to stepping over the bottom rail )[threshold] (unlike some gates that do not have anything in your foot path.) Needless to say going up wasnt as bad as going down, which was a litle scary; but we got used to it. The door does automatically close...with a clang, so remember that when the baby is sleeping! The plastic hinge has cracked after about a year. We were unable to find a replace part. The gate did work well and I felt very secure having my baby roam around near it and still would if it hadnt broken. Last cons, 1)is has a very narrow door way (for plus size people). While getting used to the added negotiation of stepping over the bottom rail, I also had to move in sideway as my daughters legs and my hips couldnt fit through the gate together (her legs would get caught up, ouch!)...so would be nice if it had a wider door. 2) lastly, over time (a year) the door was getting hard and harder to open.
In closing, yes, I would buy it again if there was no alternative, but right now, I am about to try something that has a wider doorway and no bottom threshold.

I bought this product thinking that it was probably good and safe since I see the Summer brand associated with many baby items. I WAS wrong. I am handy enough to take on most construction tasks so after assembling it correctly I opened the gate. Within a few uses the plastic on hinge was busted. After reading the other reviews I see I'm not the only one. It busted in the same way that it did in the one review with the pictures. I hope I can get my money back.

Bought from babies rus, was surprised when asked to buy warranty thought how bad it could be but did not lasted more than 20 months, material is so cheap plastic started cracking right after 30 days. Does not worth the price, will never recommend.

Easy to install...but the door only opens to about 90 degrees. It is very easy to over extend the door, and the plastic hinge snaps like a twig. We broke ours in 4 days...returning it for a different brand

We used this gate in a high traffic area from our livingroom to kitchen w/ 29inch width. The height was good for a tall gate, it effectively kept our dogs out, but was difficult to get through with a hamper in my arms (had to lift up and over and turn hamper). The actual walk thru opening was very narrow. The gates auto close feature worked well, but was VERY loud, clanky, and OFTEN woke the baby. We used to hold gate and gently rest it against close feature to keep it quiet. I could hear the gate shut anywhere in the house, even the basement! Our first gate broke at the plastic hinge after a few months. We replaced it with the same gate and had the exact same piece break again. We went through two of these gates in 7 months! I did my research and replaced it with a much quieter, less expensive, not as tall Dreambaby gate. Much happier! Highly recommend the Dreambaby gate!!

We used this gate to block our 14 mo old climber from going up the stairs. My 3yr old was able to figure out how to open the gate to get up and down without help. The only problem we had, was that our stairs have a large molding on the bottom, and it was a tight squeeze to get the gate in b/c the gate bars bowed out right where the molding ended. We have to get a new gate b/c this one got trampled by blind adults too many times and cracked.
