I love this product. It was very cheap for what others sell for and it has worked really good. The whole family has used it when sick. It's over 3 years old and still works!!!

I have owned a couple of these over the years and have had no trouble. When filling, I may add a few grains of salt to help w/ the start of creating steam. If you see heavy 'white' steam coming out, it is too high and cause your home to have that sauna type feel. It is nice that you can immerse the plastic unit into a sink to remove those dark particles out after use. Using distilled water also cuts down on the production of those particles. Make sure you don't point in the direction of furniture or anything that could be damaged by constant water contact. I had mine on the floor and pointed towards a floor plant. The pot couldn't be damaged by the steam. I ran my unit continually through the winter months. It helped to maintain moisture in the air as well as raising the temp in the room w/out raising my thermostat.

Purchased (2) vaporizers for our twin boy's rooms and used them when they had a cold or were under the weather. The boys are only (15) months old and the doctor always reccomended vaporizers to treat their cold since their was no medicine for them at the early stage. Long story short the vicks vaporizers all in all were used about 20 times each when we finally start noticing a problem. The brand new dressers had been getting warped, the teeting protector around the crib rail and lamp shades were getting black molded spots on them and the fans on the ceiling (alluminum supports) were getting rusted. We put a claim in with the company and they related it was denied. Obviously this product is faulty and should not be used by parents. The guy who denied the claim related "you probably have high humidity in your room, so you should have used a hygrometer." What is a hygrometer you ask? We didnt know and I'm sure noone else knows unless you are some kind of geek or work for these companies that dont relate this information to you in the directions they supply to you when you purchase the item. Apparently it detects the amount of humidity in a room so make sure you buy your hygrometer...Unbelievable.....This company is a joke and should be disbanned from the consumers. Take my advice...Unless you can afford to keep buying furniture that cost $1,000 each tim then be my guest....If not, don't even look at buying this or similar items..

We've had ours for about one month and have used it nearly every night and many days. It has helped reduce itchy skin and congestion. I love the large capacity and the simplicity of use. Ours is quieter than a table top fountain and makes a similar pleasant, white noise sound.

I make sure to empty out the extra minerals left at the bottom every day and I tap the plastic housing for the steam unit occasionally to knock out the minerals that have built up inside. I don't understand the comments about the steam being hot...It is steam which is by definition hot. The water reservoir does not get hot however, which I really like.

So far we are extremely happy with it and have recommended it to several friends.

I really like using the vaporizor when my little ones are stuffy and congested. It makes it easier to clean out their noses if they have been breathing in the moisture all night. I never had a problem cleaning the tank or had water boil over because I followed the instructions. The ONLY problem I have is that after years of use the electrodes have corroded so much that they no longer heat the water to make steam. However, in the instruction manual there is info about how to order the steam unit for [$]. Which is cheaper than buying the whole thing again.

This worked well for the first few times but after it tends to get clogged and then sputters water all over. There is really no easy way to clean it either. I guess you get what you pay for.

we've had this for 9 years. its still working beautifully. the only thing i can say about people who have leaking issues, they must not be using it correctly. its almost impossible for this to leak, as the tank is on the bottom and the vaporizing apparatus sits on top. mine has never leaked, never smelled (unless we put the vicks stuff in the little cup), and never made the area around it burning hot.

it is a very simple vaporizer, with no settings, no on/off switch, and no bells and whistles. but i love it.

I use this to add moisture to our bedroom while sleeping. Indoor heating has been drying us out. This is the PERFECT solution. Light steam keeps us breathing easy, helpful when sick with colds too just add vicks for some menthol therapy. Very quiet, soothing sound. Gentle steam does not cause condensation on walls or surfaces in my 12x10 bedroom. We leave the door open a crack for air circulation. If it had a timer I would give it 5 stars but as it is filling to the fill line lasts us beyond all night. Takes approx 10 minutes to start steaming. Cleans easily, fills easily.You can not beat the result for this low price. This is our new best friend.

I actually brought this product at another store. However, for the price and what it is suppose to do, its great. My only problems with the product is that the steam does get hot and the product produces this black stuff on the bottom. In which the instructions says that this might occur. I would recommend soak the bottom portion in a peroxide and water mix once or twice a week. Other than that the product performs well and works great on colds and congestions or apartments and/or houses were the heat is dry. I love the night light feature and you also can put the vaporsteam for the menthol effect. However, I use the regular vaporub and stick a glob of it in the area where you would put the liquid, it works just the same. However, it will solidify after you turn the vaporizer off. Keep this product out of reach of children on the move and be sure to stick down a towel underneath product.
