We installed this gate at the top of our stairs. It was a half inch too narrow, even stretched to its widest point, so my husband attached it to wooden blocks so that it would fit properly, which made installation tricky. It looks great, however, and looks like part of our home decor, not like a typical baby gate. Of course we'll still keep an eye on our adventurous one year old, but we feel quite secure knowing that the metal rods are strong enough should he pull himself up on them, and in the very unlikely event that we forget to lock it, the fact that it can't swing out over the stairs adds a bit of a safety net. It does take a bit of coordination to lift up and align the top and bottom to latch properly, so it doesn't earn five stars for convenience.

My husband and I were thrilled when we found this gate since it easily allows you to mount it at an angle as the doorway between our kitchen and living room was angled and most other gates don't accommodate this. The design looked pretty as well, so I am super disappointed and frustrated with the way it functions.

I don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but to open the gate, you need to pull back on the latch and lift at the same time. The bottom hinge on the opposite side is designed so that the hinge easily lifts OUT of its bracket whenever you lift the handle to open the gate. I am constantly trying to get the gate back into the hinge and it's incredibly frustrating! The design would be so much better if the bottom hinge was designed the same way as the top hinge - preventing the door from lifting out.

As much as I love the way the gate looks and the ability to be mounted on an angle, I wouldn't buy another one unless they changed the bottom hinge issue.

At the top of the stairs it doesnt feel very sturdy even though its bolted to the wall. It is however nice that it swings open and you dont have to climb over it

Comments about KidCo Designer Angle Mount Safeway Gate:

We purchased the gate to use outside on a small deck outside our beach house. The gate has worked very well for us and looks very nice with the wooden deck. We will be taking the gate off for the winter and reattaching it for next season. We are very pleased with out purchase!

We love them we have 3 of them. There a little hard to open sometimes but there much better than the ones that used the springs. We lost about a 1/2- 1 foot with the other ones and that made it kind of hard to get threw the doorways. This also helps with our cat to get places our son can't.

Ordered online. Gate showed up with loose parts inside the box and a few pieces were missing. I returned to the Babys R Us store in town and they processed my refund without complaint.

Comments about KidCo Designer Angle Mount Safeway Gate:

We mounted the gate at the top of our stairs so the baby can play while we get ready in the morning. The gate looks great, and when not in use is barely visible. The only "problem" I have is opening it. The clasp hurts my thumb, and I have a hard time pulling it back far enough to actually open it. I've had to ask my husband to help a few times. (I guess it is a mom gate too, haha) I'm hoping it gets easier over time... We'll see.

Comments about KidCo Designer Angle Mount Safeway Gate:

I bought the gate, went home and waded through the instructions, getting the hardware on the walls after 45 minutes, then discovered that a piece was broken on the gate when I tried to put seat it on the hardware. I took it back, got another one, opened the box to find that a different piece was broken. I took this one back. They didn't have another in stock, so I put the two good halves from the two boxes together and took them home. Further into the instalation process, I discovered that yet antoher piece was broken!! 5 hours, and 3 trips to the store later, I have a lot of ugly holes in my walls, but no gate. I won't be making an exchange. I'll be getting a refund.

We use this gate at the top of the stairway. It has a great design and is nice to look at. This is actually the second gate we purchased. The first one wouldn't adjust to fit our doorway size, was short or long by about 3/4 inch, so we had to take it back. Then we bought this gate and it adjusts perfectly. It was also much easier to install and came with short and long screws that actually reach the studs through the drywall. My only complaint is the handle to open it is not the best design. It's also very hard to open with wet or cold hands.
