Beware before you buy - will not fit all drawers. Our drawers are set-in so the locks will not work. For our cabinets, the directions are super poor, but we finally got the locks installed and they seem pretty sturdy. Like all the other reviews said, it took some time and reading and re-reading the directions. Also, the screws are poor quality and strip easily so you only get one try.

For those who complained that the key was causing them to scratch their cabinet doors, we just wrapped the key with some masking tape so there was a smooth side - no scratches now!

These are not the easiest cabinet locks to install, but they are by far the best! It took my husband about two hours to install them on 9 doors, but that's only because we have older cabinets and couldn't use the templates. If we had newer ones it would have been a BREEZE!

My boys (10 months) are a little disappointed that they can no longer get to the pots and pans, but I am tickled pink!

These were suggested to me by a friend, and I was a little apprehensive at first about having to use a "KEY" but it has become second nature to grab the magnet (key) off the fridge and open the cabinet. I hear a lot of friends talking about pinched fingers with other locks that allow door to open just enough for little fingers to get in and get crunched, NONE of that here, door does not budge w/o key.

Installation is lengthy, I recommend a power drill for pilot holes. Also suggest having a spare key in case main key is misplaced. These cost a bit more than other locks, but I never want to be in the hospital thinking "I should have gotten the more expensive locks!"

I purchased these locks because my 15 month old figured out how to use the standard baby locks, and was worried about her getting into things under the sink. Now they are installed i love them. They have no "play room" in the door, so she cant get her fingers in there. My only complaint was install was rather difficult. If you don't have the proper tools starting out. Go out and get them. After I had the proper drill bit and such it was pretty easy (screws tend to strip pretty easily so be careful on that). Be prepared to spend some time doing it, even on a easy go took about 20 minutes per lock. Over all i do suggest them. They work great!

Yes, they are a nightmare to install and involve putting holes in your cabinets- but at the end of the day, the cabinets look nice from the outside since there are no clamps etc. on the doors and, most importantly, there is no way my daughter can open the cabinets. They are the best option especially if you have cleaning products etc in the cabinet.

I was a little fearful about buying the product because of all the comments on how difficult the installation is. Bought the the starter pack and now I have to get more, because we love them so much. First installation took me about 10 minutes the second was done in less than five. I used a 1/16 drill bit to put pilot holes in for the screws. It went together smoothly. Try the magnet on the door cabinet when the hole has been drill for the magnet before screwing it on. Our cabinets were so thick it didn't work. Once I drilled deeper and put the extension on it works fine. I was worried about scratches in my cabinets, but with the extension in place I don't need to rub the key against the wood at all. My 8 month old is in 18 month clothing and he's built like a tank. Keeps him out no problem. Also found out my 6 year old can't open them open without the key. Needless to say I've found a new place for the Girl Scout Cookies if I can only remember where I hid the key.

At first I was like most of you. It took a long time to install lock #1. After I installed it, it wouldn't unlock! So I came to this site to get some inspiration, which I did find. It came from the user who mentioned there is depth guide included in the pack. A sigh of relief for me, since my kitchen cabinets are BRAND NEW and a peephole is not what I'm after! LOL.

Anyway, for those having a problem with the mechanism not operating correctly, you, like me, have thicker cabinets and it is necessary to drill deeper...and.....watch this.....USE THE METAL EXTENDER included in the pack!!!! I know. It was an "AH HA!!!" moment for me too!
Now it works great! The magnet is so strong it sticks to the cabinet. No search for the lock necessary.

This is a must for every family with young kids. You can easily lock any cabinet and kids can't open them at all. This means no pinched fingers like the other cabinet locks. When you don't need to use them at all you can flip a switch so they don't lock. They are great!!! I recommend them to everyone with young kids.

Great idea, poor execution. Horrible instructions, visuals are 1"x1" and hard to understand. Took 30 minutes to install the first one, only to find out that it didn't work once installed. Now I have a hole on the inside of cabinet door. Our doors are solid 3/4" Alder wood. If you have a similar door, don't bother.

We use these locks at a day care I work at, and we swear by them. The children can't get them open no matter how hard they try (and you can open them with a strong magnet other than the totlock key, but its difficult). The best part is, the children see us open the cupboards so often that they know they need the key to open it, and so they don't even try to yank on the cupboard doors anymore!
