I bought this game expecting my daughters to not really use it appropriately. My oldest is almost 4 and autistic, and my youngest is almost 2. I am surprised at how well they play this game, and it teaches them to take turns. I taught them to put the leaves in themselves, so it's just one more fun step in the game and also is good for hand eye coordination -- but I could see how a previous reviewer would see it as time consuming, because it is. We also do a lot of counting with this game, counting the bees that fall, counting the bees as we put the in. Overall a great game for the price, and the materials are durable and kid friendly. We own upwards of 30 games/board games and we use them as reinforcers for my autistic daughters therapy -- and she always come back to this one as a reinforcer.

This is a fun game, but an adult needs to set this game up and it is TIME CONSUMING. The little leaf sticks need to go all the way through the hive and it is very tricky as they get tangled up in the middle. It takes me 3 times as long to get it set up for the kids to play it and then they are calling me to 'get the rest of the sticks through' so they can play it again. Also, the hive needs to be turned by hand to set up their 'number' for each child which is sometimes hard for the littlest ones as they can dislodge the bees inadvertantly before they even take their turn. Cute game, but keep these things in mind.

This is a fun idea for little ones but the problem is that it requires a long set up to put all the branches in place. It's a long wait for a small child and then the game is quickly over.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
So much fun!

I got this game for my son (5 yo) and we love it! The whole family is able to play and it is pretty hard to give any advantage to anyone so it has been a good learning experience for our son who is always looking for the upper hand in games :-) It can take a few minutes to put together, but it is well worth it to us!
kids love it

We bought this for my sons 6th birthday. He loves it. It is easy to put the sticks in and he loves it when all the bees fall down. I like the design but it is sometimes top heavy and I have to hold onto the base to keep the kids from knocking it over.

putting the leaves can take some time and is not as easy as it looks to put them in
Pain to use
About Me Child Care Provider, Parent, Thrifty
Cute game fort 4 and 5 year olds, but what a pain and hassle to get all of the sticks in the holes to even play the game each time. If I had known I would lot have bought it.
My daughter played one time only.

It takes more time to set it up then play. It's really hard to do it for a child. Grown up must be helping. The bees go down uncontrollably with no time to turn around for another player.
Kerplunk for Toddlers

My son is 4 and loves this game. I picked it up because it reminded me of Kerplunk from when I was a child. The set up can sometimes be difficult for his little hands when you are trying to put the tree leaves in but he loves pulling them out and waiting to see if any little bees fall down the trunk. As each family member has to take a turn it helps to teach patience. We love it, definitely recommend.
