I bought a bunch of these to give all the kids that were in my wedding party, and was disappointed when they came in the mail. They are not the "classic" etch a sketches, they are actually lighter and made of a cheaper material. They worked fine, and the kids didn't know the difference, but they weren't as nice of quality as I hoped for.

    After purchasing two Classic Etch-A-Sketches for my grandchildren, I was very disappointed in their performances. Unlike the model 20 years ago (and before), this model is very hard to see since the line is so fine. It is also difficult to shake the image clear of the screen. Very disappointing!

      Seems the Etch-A-Sketch has always been in the toy box. It's one of those toys that "stays at grandma's house" so all of our grandchildren get to play with it.
      My youngest grand daughter just came to me and said "grandpa, it doesn't work right anymore".
      So, after providing 30+ years of fun and entertainment for not only our children but their children, it has "given up the ghost" and needs to be replaced. I breathed a sigh of relief when I found that it's still available. Probably have to go get the replacement today or tomorrow.
      I don't remember the last time I was aware of anything lasting 30+ years.
