Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

We've been a gdiaper family since my son was 4 months old and these prefolds are the best inserts we've found for the money- hands down! I actually started using them because we didn't have the money for fancy cloth inserts. I thought they'd be a temporary fix till I could save for g-cloth but I loved them from day one and never looked back! They are still soft, absorbent and in great shape after 16 months and at least 100 washings. They fit perfectly into small and med/lg gdiapers with a little folding. I've also read that they fit in the new tiny g's as well. The best part of all is the price. Two packs of these will cost you about as much as one case of diapers and last you until your child is potty trained.

GREAT burp cloths!
By Expecting #2 from Junction City, KS on 12/23/2009
Pros:
Compact, Durable, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use, Portable, Safe For Baby
Best Uses:
Breastfeeding, Infants
Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

I am one of those moms that doesnt bother with regular burp cloths because they are way too thin! These are perfect! I took these everywhere my son and I went and I dont know what I would have done without them. Since these were normally on me my son liked to cuddle with them I believe because it had my scent on it and he felt like he was still with mommy. For a little while they were not only burp cloths but a little security blanket. Don't bother buying burp cloths just get these.

Love These As DIAPERS!

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

I read all the comments about these diapers, and I am amazed at how many people have complaints about their quality as a diaper.

I have triplets, and my husband and I are using these for our diapering. The Chinese and Indian prefolds are significantly more costly and with the amount of diapers we need for triplets it would be overwhelming to consider buying them; however, that being said, we used a diaper service for the first three months of our babies being home from the hospital. Of course they provided DSQ (diaper service "quality") Chinese prefolds. Immediately after we switched over to these my husband asked what I thought. We both agreed that while these become soaked SO DID THE CHINESE PREFOLDS! I don't know whose babies do not soak any cloth diapers, but our babies go through both types of cloth diapers with every feeding.

Maybe some people are not wanting to change as frequently as cloth diapers require, but coupled with plastic/vinyl overpants these work great for us. We change our babies every three to four hours, and we have no leaking and no diaper rash issues. At night we use a home-made insert as a doubler, and my understanding is that any cloth diapers require this at night. My babies make it through the entire night without leaking and no diaper changes until morning.

As one other person mentioned, I did pre-wash these diapers the typical recommended five to ten washes to prepare them for use. I also launder them on two cycles every two days, and I don't have any of the pilling or rough problems others have described.

As an economical choice I think these diapers are functional as diapers, and as far as I can see they are not less useful that the DSQ diapers we used. We will continue to use these and purchase more as they wear, but for half the price or less than Chinese or Indian prefolds these are perfect for our triplet household. :) My husband and I were both cloth diaper babies, and I KNOW my mother did not buy Chinese or Indian prefolds to use. I was in this type of diaper until I potty-trained super early, and I never had diaper rash so I feel positive about this product.

NOT ABSORBENT - DON'T USE AS A DIAPER
By time4latte from Maine on 12/2/2009
Pros:
Easy To Clean
Cons:
Not absorbent, Not a prefold, Not Durable
Best Uses:
Burp cloth, House cleaning rags
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

Very disappointed. These aren't true prefolds that are stitched with layers of cloth inside. They have a padding made of polyester batting which is not absorbent (cotton would be) inside a single layer of cloth. I would not use these as diapers. They do however make great burp cloths and rags for cleaning around the house.

Great as burp cloths, they would not make good diapers though. The premium ones would be better as diapers if needed.

Extremely Thin
By Ashley from Upstate SC on 8/29/2009
Cons:
Cheap, Thin
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

These are extremely thin. You can see through them, even the middle panel is so thin you can see light when you hold them up. I planned to use them as burp clothes but they are so poor quality I'm going to take them back and get something else. They aren't even true prefolds, if you read the package they have a padded middle section made with polyester batting.

Great for cleaning little mouths
By Mrs H from Raleigh, NC on 8/23/2009
Pros:
Compact, Durable, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use, Portable, Safe For Baby
Cons:
Leaks
Best Uses:
Breastfeeding
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

I have these as well as Gerber's Premium and use both as burp cloths. My baby has reflux, and these work best for cleaning his little mouth. They are nice and soft. I wouldn't recommend them for your shoulder, because the spit up will soak through. For that purpose, I suggest the Premium ones.

great burp cloths
By mama1 from NJ on 8/3/2009
Pros:
Easy To Clean, Easy To Use
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Gerber Childrenswear Inc Gerber 12-Pack Diaper Birdseye Prefold:

I use these as burp cloths. I have also added fabric embelishments and given them as gifts. The recipients have given me good feedback too.
I use cloth diapers as well, but would not use these for that purpose. They are just too thin. (Purchase some diaper service quality chinese prefolds online if you want to give cloth diapering a go.)
