When breastfeeding has left your nipples sore and cracked, Philips AVENT nipple protectors let you keep nursing comfortably. The silicone shields cover your nipples so your skin can heal, and baby's latch-on creates a seal, letting your little one suckle milk through the shield's three holes. The shields are narrow so your bundle of joy can still smell and taste your skin while feeding.
Two Philips AVENT nipple protectors.
Philips AVENT nipple protectors let you keep nursing baby comfortably when your skin has become sore or cracked from breastfeeding. These silicone shields sit on top of the nipple so baby can latch on like normal. Three holes at the shield's peak let milk flow through to your hungry little one.
The odor- and taste-free silicone shields are just 1 inch across, so baby can still feel and smell your skin while nursing. Since baby can still feed, your milk supply will stay stimulated and your baby will easily go back to your nipple once your skin has healed. Silicone is durable and can be sterilized by boiling for five minutes or in any Philips AVENT sterilizer.
The AVENT nipple protector is worn during breastfeeding to help protect sore or cracked nipples and minimize pain. The shape allows skin contact with baby and is made of odorless, tasteless, ultra-fine silicone.

We left the hospital feeling optimistic that we got a good latch. When we came home we got so frustrated because I have inverted nipples. I was almost about to switch to formula feeding. But these little miracles saved us! They are so thin that I still feel like I am breastfeeding without the pain and frustration. As my mom said, whoever invented these, should definitely get recognized for an outstanding product idea. My husband got me 5 packs of these, so I keep one in our diaper bag, one in the kitchen, one in the bedroom, etc. So I highly recommend buying more than one pack, so you don't have to clean them right after each use. Just use mild soap to wash them, rinse and boil them for a few minutes in the evening and you are set for another hassle free breastfeeding day!One con- it's sometimes hard to stick them on. I usually put a drop of water on each side to solve this problem.

When my baby was born she had latching problem, bcoz of my flat nipples. One of the Lactation consultant gave me this to try. It worked like wonders, the baby could latch on easily. Almost used it for 4 months. Tried to wean her from nipple shield but was very difficult. Finally when I went back to work, she mostly took bottle during the hours I was out. When I came back home, baby got very frustrated with the nipple shield. Luckily I was successfuly able to use this opportunity to wean her from shield.WARNNING: - use this as temporary solution only. Otherwise, its very hard to wean the baby from using nipple shield.

Comments about Avent America inc Philips AVENT Nipple Protectors 2 Pack:
This nipple shield gets the job done, however what I don't like about it is that the holes in the nipple are a little to large and there for my daughter has choked a few times while drinking. That was very scary first time it happened. I don't like the shape of nipple and how you can position it to that baby's nose stays uncovered.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

About Me First Time Parent, Working Parent
I had only used the medela nipple shields since my sons birth. He has an eating issue and requires a nipple shield to help him latch. I felt that he never got enough milk out of the nipple shields but I had no choice. At 2 1/2 months I accidently forgot my shield so I stopped by Babies to buy one and this was all they had. Thank God! He is finally able to get more milk out. What a good accident. I will never switch back.
Thanks to this product I can breastfeed!

When I give birth to my baby she does not want to stick to the breast. My husband bought me this product and thanks to it I have been breastfeeding successfully for four months. It has an excellent price and is very efficient

I picked these up as "extras" for my DIL, after purchasing several of a different brand that worked for her. For some reason, the holes in this particular style, were too big for my 3 week old grandson. Neither of us saw any other issues, but unfortunately for us, it was not a good buy. I didn't see any detailed info on the packaging that would have led me to believe their use was anything different from the other brands available.
