With this puzzle I'm not worried it will become a choking hazard. I can leave this puzzle out in the open without having to supervise. Many shape puzzles have little knobs on them. I worry these little knobs could come loose and the child could swallow or choke on it. With this puzzle there isn't that concern. Another thing I like about this puzzle is that there are more advanced shaped than the basic 4 or 5. This puzzle seems durable and will last for years to come.

This really deserves 5 full stars! I had this over a year with no chipping, but my child doesn't try to eat her toys either. Much quality, very sturdy puzzle. This is one I plan on keeping forever for any child that comes to my house or for my daughter when she is older, it is heirloom quality in my opinion. We have a ton of wood puzzles and this one by far is my favorite, as well as my 2.5 years old favorite. You can practice shapes and colors.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My 15 month old has been playing with this shapes puzzle since she was 12 months old. At first, she would chew on the pieces. But now, she can identify all the shapes and say them as well. The knobs on the pieces are big enough for her to grip with small hands. The puzzle is colorful and fun for her. It is also a good quality. One of the pieces has a sharp edge from the wood and the paper to the triangle piece is starting to peel in the corner probably from excessive chewing. Overall, this puzzle is very good.
