Tried plugging the power cord into the unit. Had to try several times. Finally just crammed it in there and it played. But if you bump the cord the slightest bit the power is killed. Very cheap mechanism in my opinion. Radio didn't sound the greatest but better than the other model sold at Toys R Us. Never tried the cd player or the MP3 player. Will be returning. This was for a kids room. If I bumped the cord and it stopped playing you can only imagine a child bumping the cord and getting very upset. Because of that I am returning it to the store.

I bought this for my infant son's nursery last year at Christmas. I am buying another this Christmas for my 4 1/2 yo daughter. I've had no issues after a year of play and like that it has both a CD and MP3 player. My soon to be 5 year old will love playing her own CDs and dancing around her room. No cons to date. Controls seem easy enough for her to operate.

My wife and I purchased this product because it had a clock and repeat function. We used this for when our son slept, so he had background music. The night our baby was born I purchased one at toys r us took it home and the cd player function didn't work. I took it back and picked another one up which I brought home and it also didn't work. I once again took it back purchased a 3rd which finally worked. After 5 months of using the cd function has stopped working. I don't think its a coincidence that the cd function has stopped working on all 3. Obviously memorex is producing a garbage product. As for anyone who puts that their cd player works great, I would recommend not posting a positive comment until after 5 months of use. Along with all of the other complaints yours will fail too. Great job Memorex you have lost another customer and hopefully more who read my post. Toys r us you should take this product off of your shelves.

Great MP3 player, I can have almost 100 mp3 songs on 1 cd and it plays them with no issues.

I will buy a 2nd one for another room.

I bought this product for my son's birthday in April and the CD player has already stopped working. What a waste of money!

We used this radio in my son's room for background music during naps and bedtime. After 5 months it stopped reading the CD's that my husband burned on the computer and now it will not even read the originals. Contacted Memorex and they told me that it was the laser and that I need to take it to a repair shop. I'm sure getting the laser fixed would cost more than getting another boom box. They offered no assistance to resolve the problem. Pretty poor customer service if you ask me. I guess that is [$] down the drain for this household, but never again!!!!

My young son picked this out for a reward. We got it home and the lid for the CD player was not functioning when I took it out of the box. The lid would not close all the way and and was stuck shut. Finally got it open but would not open and close properly. The plastic catch inside is very flimsy. Figured I had received a bad one so we drove 15 miles back to the store to exchange it. Got it out to the car and opened it to find the same thing on the new one. We are looking elsewhere. Figured if the lid doesn't function properly the more "sophisticated" components are not going to be much better.

I've had no problem with this radio as of yet, only had it about 2 weeks. It has the repeat and program features which was what I was looking for in a radio/cd player. Good cd/player for the price.

This is perfect for your teen! It was "cool" enough for her to go from a kiddie boombox to this without spending a ton of money. It plays great too! The sound is just as good as something costing much more.
