The gate alone will fit an opening of 28 to 32 inches, but since this is a Value Pack it includes two gates and two 3.5-inch extensions. If one extension is used per gate, the gate will fit an opening up to 35.5 inches, but if two extensions are used on one gate, the gate with two extensions will fit up to 39 inches. The safety gate is also easy to install and has a sleek, attractive design that blends with nearly any decor.

Woodwork and Wall Installation

In most cases, it's not necessary to screw holes into woodwork or walls to secure the gate. If installing the gate at the top of stairs, however, screwing in the mounting cups is required to ensure long-term security. Optional adaptors (sold separately) accommodate banisters and railings.

This Extra Tall kit includes two gates and two extensions. Each gate will fit an opening of 28-32 on its own. Two 3.5 extensions are included. Using one gate with both extensions will reach 28- 39 and using one gate with one extension will reach 28-35.5. Additional extensions sold separately for wider spaces. Two extensions may be used per side to each a maximum of 111. A great product. It was easy to install, and worked perfectly the first time. I installed one gate with both extensions at bottom of the stairs on the first floor. I need to get a couple more extensions to install the other one at the top of the stairs now. I was worried that my toddler would be able to open it, as I couldn't tell how the lock works. No need to worry - it has a button on the top edge of the gate that slides to the side, but then you have to lift the gate to open it. It's already high for my little guy, and there is no way he can slide that button while lifting up on the gate at the same time. The height of the gate is great, too. Installing the gate on top of the first step makes it so high that it is impossible for him climb over it.

Has anyone noticed that you can buy two gates separately for $10 less than this so-called "value pak"? If you want value buy 2 gates @ [$] each, you get 2 3.5" and 2 7" extensions. With this, you get the two gates and only 2 3.5" extensions...Otherwise, I own the shorter version of this gate and it has held up well to the 2-year old pulling on it, the three-year old climbing over it, ( hence the need for the tall version...) and the 5- year old slamming it shut. The only thing that has destroyed the gate so far, is myself trying to go through the gate in a hurry and not unlatching it properly, so I walked into it and broke the latch. I weigh about 300 lbs, and that's what it took to break the gate.

I was very skeptical about these gates. But I ordered them because I liked the height and that you didn't have to bend over to unlatch them. And once I installed them. I loved them. My daughter hates it because she can't crawl over them or get out. But overall they're very easy, I love that you can be one handed and that they close shut behind you. And let me tell you, they hold some weight. My 5'5 husband that weighs about 125 lbs fell OVER the gate and the gate didn't come down with him. That's what he gets for getting tipsy and not looking where he was going but hey. They're durable!! :o) [...]

Best gate I've found. Way taller and more stable tha Summer safe and secure walkthrough gate that I already had. Using 2 of these to close off my dining room so I like that gate swings both directions. My 2yo pulls at it and swings on it and it stays in place. Also my 17# poodle mix can't jump over it.

Use tall gates for tall toddler - top of stairs, kitchen, basement. These are the best gates we have found. Purchased regalo easy step tall not as sturdy and difficult to open - with these you just slide the button and lift. A lot easier for grandparents to open. Wish they made them without the bar to step over at the bottom and a bit more room to walk thru.

I like the look of the gates, but I think they are way overpriced! The extensions that came with it are no help and I had to order two extra ones for a total of $50! I really don't think these gates are worth $160+ altogether. I got the [$] Evenflo wooden gate for the stairs and it's perfect!
