It would be better to spend alittle more money on a better product than to have your children get excited about this toy and find that it is junk.
I assembled the snoopy sno-cone, read the instructions, and explained how it worked with my 8yr old daughter. When she complained that it kept falling apart, I tried it. I reassembled it, and attempted to crank the handle and shave the ice. I found myself reassembling it numerous times after about 5-10 rotations on the crank handle, and the ice was minimal. It took me about 10 minutes to fill one(1) of the provided small cups and by that time the ice was already melting. I returned it to the store the next day.

This was my favorite toy as a kid and I was so excited to give it to my kids for Christmas. It was the first thing they wanted to play with Christmas morning. Just as I remembered it, simple and easy and well made.

We were able to assemble the handle/shaver mechanism with no fuss, and made seven small snowcones in very rapid succession with no trouble at all. The ice only shaves if you turn the handle clockwise, and adults can shave the ice more quickly than children, but this is working better than I remember it working back when I had the original in the 1980s.

My son and I love to make these snow cones! I had one when I was a child and loved it!!! Of course, parent supervision is required but who would let their child play with anything that is strong enough to chop ice??? I mean my child is pretty smart but curiosity can get the best of him!! Also, reading the instructions is very helpful. We haven't had any problems with ours whatsoever. In fact, as soon as more are in stock I am going to buy another one for my friend's children!

I too had one of these when I was little back in the early 80's, so of course I had to snag one for my little ones to experience. If you carefully read the instructions (like someone else noted) things will go together nicely. It requires some elbow grease to get the job done, but it's worth the nostalgia factor for me. Plus, the kids thought it was the greatest thing ever.

My 5 year old got this as a birthday present. The turning piece did not snap in like it should have and it took nearly 20 minutes to shave the ice using 5 cubes - it was difficult to crank - kept falling apart- and the amount of shaved ice you would get is minmal so what was in the cup nearly melted by the time you had a cupful to enjoy. I do not recommend this. I actually got out the salad shooter and shaved ice this way so my child could still enjoy our planned activity!

I had one of these when I was a kid and that was in the 80s! As you could imagine I was like a little kid all over again when I saw this and bought it for my daughter! Only a REALLY strong and older child could use this on their own, but it provides for some fun time with your child/children. My arms and back hurt after using it last night, but it was TOTALLY worth it! The ice doesn't melt as fast as it does with other sno-cone makers, and you don't have to have a special flavoring, just use koolaid or juice, or even pop! As for the handle, you have to match up the grooves on the 3 pieces that you have to piece together. If not then it definitely will fall apart. It is a little complicated to get that together, but once you do it's so durable! I had no worries while making sno-cones last night! I didn't use the snowman for the flavoring. I was too excited haha. I LOVE this! Just please give it a chance and pay attention to the instructions and get it together right and you will love this as much as I did when I was a kid and as much as my daughter and I do now.

I had one and had to get it for my son. He loves it as much as I did. He can't do it on his own but I knew that when I got it. It's so simple and cute.

This product is wasted plastic. My kids wanted this so badly last Christmas and honestly, my 10 yr old couldnot make it work!! The handle doesnt turn easily or really at all with ice in it. When we opend the box we even wondered if everything was there! I ended up actually throwing it away after 2 attempted uses. i couldnt even donate it in good conscience. It seems someone is just trying to make a buck with some flimsy nostalgia--update the product!
