Santa brought this for my daughter (12 mos). Now she's like a mini Rachel Ray!

She's very young, so I removed the 10-20 pieces with small parts. The set is large. There are still a lot of pieces left to play with, which I'm careful she doesn't ever chew.

She likes to sit at her table & pretend with the dishes. We sit on the floor & have great mommy-daughter "moments" stirring in the bowls & pots & talking about what we're cooking. She loves it, & I know she's building vocab & listening skills.

I'm glad this set doesn't look feminine. If my next child's a boy, or if my daughter wants to play house with her male cousins, no problem.

If Santa brings a kitchen next year, she can use these very sturdy plastic dishes with it for years!

One negative--no real storage bin. The box serves as temporary storage. Buy a plastic bin, or get used to little dishes & cutlery all over your house!

This is a really nice set, but not what I expected. I ask grandma to buy it for my girls because I already have several of the Learning Resources play food sets and they are wonderful. I wanted flatware for my girls to "eat" the food off of and cookware for them to "cook" the food in. So I was very disappointed to open the box and see how small the plates, pots and bowls were. I live in china and I try to avoid buying toys over here my kids might chew on, so we're stuck with plates smaller than our eggs and sandwiches. Read the specs, it's only the dishpan that is a good size-the rest is small.

I played with my step grandchildren (4.5 years) and she was not able to do it at first. Then after we build one, she got lots of fun building more on her own. It was FUN to see her use her IMAGINATION to build her own ideas. You can use it indoors or outdoors.

These are so fun and great for learning and creativity. My daughter loves to build things with her gears. We value education in our household, so any toy that stimulates the mind and makes our daughter think is great. This one is up there with one of the best!

Comments about Learning Resources Pretend and Play Cooking Set:

We received this as a gift and I think I love it as much as my son. I wasn't sure at first what to think of it but as soon as we set some up and starting turning the crank, we were both hooked. It is mesmerizing to watch and create. We are excited to build on with other kits, too! But, clicking the base pieces together is a little bit challenging and holding the base still while turning the crank can be tough. It's hard to not touch gears while holding the base steady, so you can end up stopping the whole thing from working. I'm sure as kids are older, they can solve the problem. But my 3.5 year old has me hold it down while he cranks the handle at full speed to his total delight.

Comments about Learning Resources Pretend and Play Cooking Set:

My daughter is not quite three. I got her this for Christmas because she likes to build and it seemed like it would be good for fine motor skill development.
So far, she has pulled this off the shelf every day. She enjoyed building towers, rearranging the gears, and figuring out why all the gears are not spinning.
I have had a great time playing alongside her, making cars, towers, and different building shapes.
I would have liked to have been able to have gears spin in different planes, but we are both having a great time with this set.
