I got this for christmas for my daughter and she loved it. But, I was shocked that it needs to have batteries and a memory card. When i finally uploaded her photos, they were blurry and bad quality. Also, the flash was very poor.I also thought this camera was bulky.I recommend to not get this camera.

I was so excited to buy this for our daughter as a Christmas gift. Little did I know it would shut down on her about an hour or so after the initial use. This camera has constantly been on my husband's "to do" list of repairs. I sure hate that I tossed away the receipt, otherwise, this would've gone back for sure!

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

I have had this camera for about 2 years now, and we bought it for my 2 year old daughter for Christmas as this was the only thing she had wanted for the holiday gift giving occasion. I had the same initial reaction as a lot of people, the image quality is poor, drains batteries, etc. but this is all not true. The camera does not do great in low light, and the flash (as in any camera) will strain batteries, but, if you treat the camera as a real camera (get good batteries) all the battery problems are non existant and you find that a good set of batteries will last you a minimum of a year (and counting). After two years of having this camera, my daughter still takes it with her to various places for photo shoots, and I absolutely LOVE the pictures it has taken. I even made her a small abstract photo book of some of my favorite shots. Not only do I have a special packed folder on my computer just for her photos, but she loves to look at the photos that she has taken, and I love hearing her tell me what some of the less distinguishable pics are. The camera is a toy, it will not ever be a replacement for my Canon Rebel, but it will forever be a part of some of fine art shots as this camera does take some interesting photos in low light. In bright light it takes O.K. pics. This camera is great, and for her fourth b-day, we are considering an upgrade to a 9MP camera+ and know that even though it will be a better camera, it will never completely replace her first camera. The only problem I have with the camera really, is that after it being handled this much and being dropped as many times (which it was made for), some of the rubber grips are coming unglued by the shutter button. I also wish they offered the simple point and shoot with a higher megapixal, as I believe this one is less than 1mp. There is also the problem of the memory card, I had to replace it within a month of my daughter playing with it, but as they are cheap (recomend a kingston 2gb [...]. for under $10 and it will last a lifetime). The reason I gave it a 4star rating is because of this, and my daughter was unable to use the camera without a memory card. In comparison to the other cameras out there for toddlers, this by far is the only one that makes sense, one touch shooting, easy to navigate and discard photos (which this is actually a problem as my daughter does like to take them, but also delete them before I can get them onto my computer), and a simple menu. She loves it, and I think it will last for years to come.

I read all the reviews before buying this product, which helped alot. The pitcure quality isn't the best but its for a child who is learning how to take pictures, so in my opinion the quality doesn't really matter(that much). It was for my daughter's 5th b-day she absoultley loved it and thats what mattered the most. My three year old was not able to get her hands around it to take the pictures might me be the only problem but she is small for her age.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

We purchased this camera for our daughter for Christmas. She was so excited to start using it, she stopped opening the other boxes and just took pictures. Unfortunately, about 2 hrs into it, it started to shut down for no reason until the camera would only turn on and then shut off (rendering it useless). I called Mattel on 12/26 and they sent me a return note and said they were aware of the problem and would replace it. Well, it's now 2/2 and we've just received our "new" replacement. A refurbished camera that has the same problems as the first one. Save your money and your child's disappointment. It's a great idea if it worked but I would recommend you skip this toy.

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

We bought this for our 3 year old son after he had been using his older sister's version. The old version was great for 3-5 year olds. Our son's new version drains the batteries after 15 minutes of use. It's a waste of money. He's gone back to using his sister's camera because his is always broken. Not sure what happened to the new version, but don't buy it.

Batteries die in less than an hour
By Joss from Philadelphia, PA on 1/25/2009
Pros:
Durable, Easy to Use

Drains Batteries

Describe Yourself:
Parent Of Two Or More Children
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

The batteries die way too fast. The camera shuts off itself after a minutes of no use, so it's not like the camera is left on a long time. We thought the camera was broken because it stopped working the first day. We decided to change the batteries and it worked, but for less than another day. It's going back tomorrow and I probably won't be exchanging it, either.

Battery Gets Drained Too Easy

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

If you use regular batteries for this it will only last for 10 minutes then die. If you put in the best digital camera batteries it only lasts a couple hours. Weird that nobody else is saying anything about it?? Besides that extremely annoying defect it's cute and very durable. The screen is very small and the quality is horrible of the images on the screen and when you put them on your computer they are equally bad. But a great way to distract your kid from wanting to use your camera. My kid loves it if it would ever work right!!

Comments about Fisher-Price 1001124 Fisher-Price New Kid-Tough Digital Camera: Pink:

We purchased this camera for our daughter's 6th birthday. I think we expected too much from it. She really liked it for the first day and took pictures of everything-including pictures! But she has rarely used it since. It is super easy to use and is great for the really little ones, but don't expect to get good pictures. For the best picture you have to stand 4-4.5 feet from something (good luck getting a kid to do that!) and even then the pictures are pretty bad-even viewed on computer. I'm not really sure it's worth the money. You'll definately need to lower your expectations. I would not recommend it or anyone over 4.
