Not my doors
By Theresa from Michigan on 1/16/2010
Cons:
Difficult To Install, Poor Design
Describe Yourself:
First Time Parent
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

This was horrible! I have standard bi-fold doors and it wouldn't fit over them. It wouldn't slide at all, even in the fully open position.

Not the greatest!
By RayRay from St. Clair Shores, MI on 11/11/2009
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

Cheaply made. I realize that it was just over $2, but it was ineffective. You cannot open the door all the way, but you can open it slightly leaving room for little fingers to get pinched.

Doesn't work
By Parent from Auburn, WA on 10/29/2009
Cons:
Poor Design
Describe Yourself:
Parent of Two or More Children
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

We bought two of these and I will be returning them tomorrow. I plan to buy the Kidco one instead.

This doesn't fit the door properly. I removed the tightening plate that made it too snug and now it is too loose. It pops up when I use normal effort to open the door. My choices are too loose or too tight! Also, it is not wide enough
(probably why it pops up).

It was definitely worth a try and costs less than competitors but it simply did not fit our standard sized bi-fold door.

Best Uses:
Accident Prevention, Crawlers, Kitchen/Bathroom, Toddlers
Describe Yourself:
Grandparent
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

This is a great deterent for cabinets without handles. If you find it flimsy or not tight enough, get a roll of thick double sided tape, stick a piece inside and it will lock up good and tight. Kids can't turn the knob and move on.

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

I originally purchased this product to keep my 2 year old out of our pantry. It is SO EASY to install and use that I got more for the other bifold doors in our home. I have no complaints about this product and would definately recommend it to anyone with bifold doors.

Watch the size of your door as this did not fit our door (I thought all sizes were the same). Very difficult to lock. Threw it away.

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

We love these! I'm buying more! We have stupid bifold doors on every single closet in our house, and have problems with the kids, 2 cats, and golden retriever constantly getting them open. My husband bought a set of these a few months ago, to try out on a closet and they are great! If you pull really hard they do snap off, but it usually happens after a few minutes of animals/kids playing with it, so we still have enough warning to go check it out.

Pros:
Easy Use, Good Value, Useful Application
Best Uses:

Comments about Safety 1st Bi-fold Door Lock:

I purchased this item and the Kidco for [$], they both work so why pay an extra [$]. There is a mechanism to tighten this for smaller doors, I had the opposite problem of it being too small so I removed the extra piece and now it works great.
