This lock was very easy to put on the door but unfortunately it was a little too big for our doors. The lock hit the door jam when trying to close the door.

After reading reviews on this product, I installed this lock upside down. My 17month old daughter (in the 75% national percentile in height) understands how to open the door, but hasn't 100% succeeded due to her height. By installing the lock upside down, it is impossible for her to pull down on the door handle and open the door. For convenience, I placed little signs with arrows to indicate to pull up on the door handle to open the door (for guests). Sure it may look tacky, but rather tacky-looking than unsafe! Also, my baby can NEVER accidentally lock the door from the outside because she can't reach the "lock/unlock" switch on this door lock. I'm not much of a handy person, but removing the door handle with a screwdriver was relatively easy installing on brand-new indoor door handles. The provided instructions aren't very helpful.

Bought it to keep our son out of the pantry. Two years late he still hasint figured it out. My son is very bright and quite strong, he has creamed every other child proofing device we purchased this is the only one he did not break or figure out.

Our 15 month old figured out how to open the door with this latch on it the same day we installed it... He just pushes the latch hard and it pops right open! If you have a curious and determined child, don't bother with this!

this product was awful!! It only works from one side.. so if it is locked on one side of the door the other side wont open either and it broke very quickly just from my toddler yanking on the door knob she was able to open it

Easy to install, does not damage door handle, child is newly mobile so not sure if she can get open on own-read many reviews stating works best upside down.

"Backwards for our handles". We installed the lock the way the directions state, but that would have locked us out of the room/locked the baby in also. Our levers work together, therefore we needed to install the lock on the outside of the door. Have not used it long to have other comments.

I use this on my outside doors I know it says not recommended for outside doors but its a great daytime remedy to try and keep my very smart little guy from escaping. It was very easy to install and didnt require me to alter my doors in anyway which was great. I have no complaints about this product. But remember this isnt a substitute for adult supervision

I can't imagine how people can give this product a good review- unless they have just installed it and not given their toddler a few days to figure it out. It took my 13 month old 2 days to figure out that he just had to pull hard enough- and the lock would slide open. Was just about ready to throw the whole thing in the trash when I saw the reviews here suggesting that it worked when installed upside-down. It does! That is, until my son figures out how to pull up on the handle to open doors- but hopefully, that will be a while.
