We put these on every window in the house because our younger boy will not leave the cords of the blinds alone. I see lots of negative reviews of this product, and I think perhaps the parents did not read the back of the package. Some highlights (which answer nearly every one of the complaints posted already):* "wind up cord by turning cover clockwise until cord is at desired height" (the same idea as twisting a screw or using a faucet)* "Once Window Blind Cord Wind-Ups are in place, pull on cord above them to raise or lower blinds"* "NOTE: If the cord is pulled below Window Blind Cord Wind-Up, the unit may pop open"* "CAUTION: This product is only a deterrent. It is not a substitute for proper adult supervision. Discontinue use when child becomes old enough to defeat it."These have worked perfectly for us. No problems, no wind-ups popped open. We have been able to wind about 4 feet of cord into the unit, easily placing the cords out of the reach of children.

The idea of this product is great, but I agree with another review. You're better up wadding up the cord and clipping it together with a clothespin. My daughter just barely reached the end of the cord, and she pulled it, and all the wrapped up cording came out, and the 2 peices popped apart. Also, if you have too much cording, like we do on some taller blinds, it pops apart as well. Would not reccommend! If I could give it less than 1 star, I would.

Comments about Safety 1st 2 Pack Blind Cord Wind-Ups:
This is hard to use and doesn't really work all that well. I bought two packs and I'm definitely going to return one. It's also not sturdy and seems cheap and flimsy so that the device will pop open and the cords will be free. I wouldn't recommend this.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

This product is awful. I thought it would be easy to use but it's not. So I spent money for no reason and they will just sit in a drawer forever.
Not the best
Found it to be ok - just looks sort of odd hanging there!
Best thing ever

Keeps my 9 month old from getting the blind strings and hurting his self...this has been a constant battle since he started pulling up
An inexpensive way to keep my little girl safe.
Does the trick, but a little tricky

These do a good job of keeping little ones away from cords, but if you are someone who likes to go from having blinds down to up regularly, they can be a bit annoying to get right.
