The light on it is not as bright as others say. Its fine and does not light up the whole room and wake my kids from the light. It is really loud though and that wakes them. I can not sleep with it on it wakes me up and I am not a light sleeper. Both my kids are light sleepers and we bought it for them and it wakes them up all night. We have had it for 3 years now and as long as we clean it after each use it has stayed clean. Although it is impossible to find filters for it.It came with 2 and those were used up after the first year. It takes a long time to warm up. You have to turn it on about 45min- 1 hour before you intend on using it. It takes forever before it actually starts working. We are looking for a new humidifier. One that hopefully doesn't take an hour to actually start doing what its suppose to and one that is quiet.

Love this humiifier. I have been using two of these (one in each child's bedroom) for 4 years now. I tried 3 other humidifiers before buying these, and I found that all humidifiers on the market either spew mold or bacteria into the air or are difficult to clean. I like this humidifier because even though it requires cleaning every two weeks, it is easier to clean than the other 3 brands I tried, AND it spews much cleaner air into the room since it kills bacteria with the UV light bulb. Given that all the products in the market either spew bad stuff into the air or are difficult to clean, I give this one 5 stars because it spews the cleanest air and is relatively easy to clean. I keep a gallon of vinegar and a gallon of bleach in the closet, and every 2 weeks I let the base soak in a cup of vinegar and the two tanks soak in a light bleach solution for 20 minutes, then rinse them, refill them, and place them back in the bedrooms. It's easy and quick! The reviewers who complain about the bright blue light might lack a little creativity; they can simply place black electrical tape over the light if they don't like it. My children like it because it looks like a nightlight and they like the gurgling sound because it is soothing.

Still works after 2 years and I'm not good about cleaning it out. Never gets mold. We did put black electrical tape over the light. Like that it holds 2 gallons. We are going to buy a second one for our newborn.

I thought that the product was great. We began using it when my 6 month old had a cold. It helped tremendously in clearing her up but it also kept her up. The blue light on this machine is so bright it made her room glow brighter than a nightlight. I even taped the light with black electrical tape and it still glowed through. I had to return it to the store because she kept waking up and ready to party. It is also a bit noisy but again it did help clear her symptoms.

Got this product at our shower and have loved it! This product worked so great for our little guy after he was born and got a cold that we bought one for my teenager when he got sick. The second one has now been passed on to my grandbaby and both worked great. I will say that it is a bit of a chore to clean but does not deposit minerals in the room like others and isn't that hard after the first couple of times. The light is a little bright since our little one shares our room, but we just taped a penny over it. We only use it when it is cold and dry out and adjust the level to keep the room from getting too hot. We had the first one for 2 1/2 years and used it for about 4 months a year without having to replace anything. For those who replace the mineral filter repeatedly, if you wash it with soap when you clean the metal cup weekly you won't have to replace it often. Still haven't had to replace ours at all! Also, use a tiny bit of vinegar to clean the metal boiling cup and it will be really easy if you have hard water like we do. It should never smell bad, so if it does there is something in your water. We fill ours using our Pur filter in the kitchen to cut way down on the deposits. VERY easy. We had a storm last night and the unit was plugged directly into the wall so it took a surge which blew out the buld and fried the unit. If it stops working and before you go out and buy a new buld, check that the cup is heating up since it will still run as long as the burned out bulb is still in place. I will be going out today and buying another but will definitely be plugging it into a power strip to protect it from surges! My fault and I will have to pay for it.

We bought this a year and a half ago (in the winter) b/c our daughter had a headcold. She got used to the hum it makes and the blue night light. So, we still turn it on every night for her (on the lowest setting). It's been easy to keep clean and hasn't leaked. HOWEVER the light came on to let us know we need to replace the UV bulb. I contacted Vicks and they said I had to contact Kaz. They want $25 [...] for a new bulb. You can't buy the bulb anywhere else. So, be prepared to spend [$] on this plus $25 every year for a new bulb. That's WAY to much money for what this is.

We got two of these for our baby shower and thought it would be great for our room and baby's room. The first one broke before baby got into his own room, then the second one just broke and baby's only 10 months. Plus, they were both always leaking. Cleaning was a small production and we could never find the replacement filters. We are now on the hunt for one that'll work for longer then 5 months.

Giving this a 1* because I would not recommend purchasing this to family or friends. Here's why:

- It makes the room hot, with little to no steam. So instead of a moist air, the room just gets hot and slightly musty and when your child is congested, it doesn't seem to help.

- When my 1 year old got sick, I learned that the pediatrician did not endorse using vicks vapor steam until past age 3.

- The price is too high for the product.

- The unit leaks, so it must be on a floor that you don't mind getting wet. So if you have a curious little one, they will always be trying to dismantle it since it's on the floor.

- The light on the unit is so bright it makes the whole room glow blue at night. This is way brighter than a nightlight - we had to tape thick black paper over the light to minimize it.

I assumed that because this one was more epensive that it would work better than the first one that only lasted a week. Well this one lasted a month.It was cleaned properly and frequently yet still it just stopped working! [...]

To me, this humidifier is like any other humidifier that I've used only more expensive. The blue power light on the front is like having the sun shine all night in your face--had to tape a piece of paper over it it was so annoying.
