The first Graco Infant Swing was created in 1953. Graco Metal Products originally manufactured car parts, but when one of the founders left the company to pursue other interests the remaining partner, Robert Cone, decided he wanted to try and manufacture something new, he just didnt know what.

Thats when David Saint, an engineer at Graco Metal Products, presented Cone with a revolutionary new idea, a wind-up infant swing. Saint, a father of 9 children, was inspired by a friends wife who soothed her tired baby by swinging in a backyard glider swing.

Exactly what I needed

This product has been so handy. My son is 7 months old now and we still use it often, especially the seat. We lived in an apartment when he was born and so space was limited. This swing was exactly what I was looking for. The seat is soft, the vibrating feature is great, and the classical songs are nice. The nature sounds are a little weird, but I use the white noise one sometimes and it's not bad. It's so nice to put him in the swing without waking him up if he's fallen asleep in the bouncer, or vice versa. And to carry him all over the house in the seat is great - the handles make it so easy to carry. I actually found it easier not to put the tray on the seat until he was older. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who wants the benefit of a full size swing but doesn't have the space - so great to have two baby products in one!

I bought this swing so that I wouldn't have to have a bouncer chair and swing separate to save space. It was a great idea and my child likes the seat as a bouncer seat, however he is not thrilled with the swing. Mainly this is because he doesn't like to swing head to toe, but there is also not much for him to look at. The toys on the top bar are so high up and the chair doesn't recline enough for him to be able to look up and see these toys. I do wish it would recline more.

Also, the toys on the tray make it impossible to open the tray and have it stay open when it is in the swing. I have to take one of the toys off so that I can get the tray to stay open so I can put my child in the swing.

The motor is also sort of noisy, but I do like the sound features. There are a lot of white noise options which my child loves. Overall, I think if I had to do it again I would purchase a different swing and a bouncer chair separate as that is what I have ended up with anyway - this is now my bouncer chair.

We used this swing for our baby boy from infancy to about seven months. He really enjoyed it and the accompanying music. For the first 1-3 months it helped to soothe him. It was nice that we didn't have to purchase a separate bouncer. We also liked that it plugged in rather than used batteries. We did remove the plastic piece that fits between the legs because it seemed awkward and constraining; we used the straps instead (this is why I gave it a 4 vs. a 5 star). It's unfortunate that it is so expensive when it is used for such a short time. Buy used if you can!

Our 3 week old loves it! The swing + vibration usually puts her to sleep or quiets her when shes fussy. Love the classical music.

Only thing is I wish it plugged in. It uses D batteries which have lasted fine so far but they are expensive.

I love this swing/bouncy, and here are all the reasons why:
- It plugs into an outlet = no batteries. Amazing.
- My daughter loves the white noise. It puts her right to sleep.
- The bouncy seat is so easy to remove. Since we have a 2 story house, I love being able to remove the seat to use it upstairs when needed.
- It's been working perfectly for 5 months. My daughter has been napping in this swing 2-4 times a day since she was 1 1/2 months old. (She didn't like it much until then)

The only thing I didn't like about the swing was the bulky tray that was attached, so we just removed it. Problem solved.

Bottom line - great swing, don't know what we'd do without it.

I was so excited for this product!! Save room and money with one purchase! When we brought home our baby we couldn't use it because the swing sat too upright for a newborn. I had to quickly borrow a vibrating chair from a friend just to have something to put my baby in. He kept slumping forward until like 8 weeks old which is when he first got in it. There is also a tray that is on the chair. It fit very tight ( a plus) but so tight that a sleeping baby always woke up when you opened or closed it. Even when he was awake he was scared of how hard it had to snap shut, not easy to work when you want to set them down quickly. I didn't see a way to take it off... We sold it to someone else by the time our son was three months we didn't want to waste roomin the house!

I LOVE the Birkshire pattern, its neutral in case our next child is the opposite gender and it's not tacky looking like most baby gear designs.

I love the 2 in 1 feature for the price, plus the classical music (I don't think the nature sounds are all that soothing but we'll see how baby likes it!) The gears are a little noisy.

Also when opened up for the swing it does take up a bit of room (but our living room as well as nursery are both pretty small) so until baby arrives I have the swing base folded up in her closet and just the bouncer seat out in the room for now.

It's so cute and feels so comfortable and plush, I can't wait for baby to arrive to use it!

I purchased this product after returning a separate bouncer and swing. When I saw it I knew it was double the fun amounting to the same price - or close enough. Since I live in a small hous, space comes at a premium! Be sure to purchase the extended warranty since the motor works double duty. Worth every penny.
