I like the Lite Brite Flat Screen. Battery operated portable..It's true that the compartment for pegs stick's but I just lie it down when opening it and nothing goes flying.. It is recommended for age 3 and up.. But I use this with my 4th-6th grade children there just more responsiable with the paper's and pegs... If I used this with a younger age it would be with supervision only. Exspecially under the age of 5.. Also once the compartment is open pour the pegs in a pie tin or plastic countainer the children can get to them easier and the peg colors are more visiable.

The pictures are not that great and the storage container for the light pegs is terrible. The sliding containers keep jamming on my kids and they can't get it open. After forceful tries there are light pegs everywhere.

Absolutely a waste of money. Piece of junk. No holder for the paper that comes with it, peg holder won't work, spills pegs everywhere, button to turn on is very cheap. Don't buy!

Some toys STAY and some toys FADE. Lite brite still, is one of most favorite toys. Its mine and Im 55yrs.old Id say by my age hehehe Lite brite is STILL here to stay, and never once faded away.

The peg holder is a nightmare. Very difficult to open. Button for the light broke after 3 uses. The thing is completely useless. The original one from our childhood was much better. It's a shame that they had to completely ruin this once really fun toy.

I was looking forward to spending time with my grandson and wanted him to have the experience I had with his mother when we played with the original version. This product does not stand upright and the template does not match up with the holes for the pegs. It needs an ON/OFF switch because it is a real battery user. I hope to be able to contact the manufacturer to tell them that it is not necessary to fix it if it is not broken! The original was perfect! The only thing I can think of to improve the original is to include a sealed pouch to store the pegs. I have great memories.

[...] Both of my kids (ages 2 and 4) love this toy. Other reviewers are right about the peg holder; it's useless. Hard to open and usually gets stuck. We keep the pegs in a separate container. I like how the light shuts off automatically after a few minutes. Saves batteries. Great feature since most kids don't turn things off. Wish replacement sheets and pegs (Hasbro website) came in bigger packages so I don't have to purchase them as often. Buying two more for my nieces...but not here.

I loved this toy as a child. I just gave this "version" to my son today: What a huge disappointment. Can't we please pay a little more money for a toy that is not complete garbage? I usually buy European wooden toys, but some things need to be both plastic and battery powered -- and well made!

Would not recommend this. The holder for the pegs it horrible!!! Also had to put in a seperate container. Still finding them on the floor!!

Light quality not as good as the electric when I was a kid, but it is safer.

I have to agree with all of the other reviewers who have mentioned that the peg holder on this product is AWFUL. It gets stuck often and when you do finally manage to pry it open the pegs scatter all over the place. I can't imagine a small child trying to get the stuck peg holder open! I took all the pegs and put them in a plastic container, which works much better but I shouldn't have to do that.

I have not experienced the problem with pegs falling out as long as a piece of paper is placed over the screen. (If you run out of designs you can just use construction or typing paper cut to size.) In fact, my pegs seem to be in there pretty tight. Maybe the design has been tweaked a little?

I like how this Lite Brite is battery powered and that the battery has an automatic shut off. Yes, it is supposed to turn off after 3 minutes as a safety feature. Seeing as I almost burnt down our house when I was little by leaving a similar toy on the floor where it got covered by a blanket and melted I like this feature! Small children often don't remember to turn things off and they can just press the button to turn the light back on as long as they are playing. It also prevents wasted battery power.

Getting to my personal biggest problem with this Lite Brite: There are NOT ENOUGH pegs! Many of the designs that come with it will use every peg of a few colors that come with it. (How long before a child or even an adult loses a peg or two?) The refill sets are even worse. I have the My Little Pony one and it often requires more pink than what came with the Lite Brite... plus a pack of 100 more pegs, and the pegs that came with the MLP pictures! That's insane! One picture requires over 100 pink pegs. I'm not kidding. I have heard the Transformers one has a picture of Bumblebee that needs a million yellow or something.
