Air protect
Air Protect is Advanced Side Impact Protection. It saves lives with an advanced cushion system that protects your child's head where it's needed most in a side impact crash.
GCell
The specially designed foam that makes up GCell HX features hexagonal shapes that reduce the negative energy a child experiences in a crash. Placed specifically around the torso, GCell HX works in conjunction with Air Protect technology around the child's head to provide full-body side impact protection. The superior design of these combined technologies exceeds all federally mandated crash tests.
Steel-reinforced frame
A steel-reinforced metal frame provides extra rigidity to the car seat, while soft fabrics and cushions ensure your child enjoys a comfy ride.
Stress-free installation
The Advance 65 Air+ features unique, stress-free installation thanks to easy-to-identify, color-coded belt paths and installation labels. This user-friendly system helps you install it quickly and correctly, which means less time getting it into your car and more time to enjoy the ride.
Easy-to-adjust, four-position recline
With the recline handle positioned at the back of the seat, it's easy for parents to adjust to the correct and most comfortable angle while the seat is in the rear-facing position. With four different recline options and the ability to easily adjust the seat while your baby grows, it's simple to customize the fit of the Advance SE 65 Air+.
Easy-to-adjust, 10-position headrest
Kids grow quickly! The easy-to-adjust headrest of the Advance 65 Air+ includes 10 different positions, making it simple to keep the important Air Protect Side Impact Protection positioned around your child's head during the ride, from small to tall.

I received this car seat courtesy of Safety 1st. This review and the opinions below are my own.

My son is just 5 months old and I began my research for a quality convertible seat soon after his birth. We still use his infant carrier, and will continue to use it for several more months, but we took this car seat for a test run. Because my son is a very small 5 month old, I was worried about his comfort and ability to fit into such a large seat. He was clearly comfortable (as he stayed happy and quiet throughout our drive), the straps were easily adjustable, and I feel like he is very safe in the car seat (obviously my #1 priority). The seat both looks and feels sturdy, protective, and safe. This is our first convertible car sear, so I do not have too much to compare it to, but the only downside is it seems a bit bulky to me. We have an SUV and so it fits just fine rear-facing, but it does require the front passenger seat to be moved forward quite a bit. Finally, this is a seat that my son can grow with for years to come - a huge plus.

All in all we are very happy with the seat - safe, secure, and comfortable!

I wanted this seat because I had the Onboard Air 35 when baby was little and LOVED IT!! I wanted to keep the "squishy" padding because that is what I loved so much about the Onboard Air. When I saw this carseat I thought it would be perfect but with no reviews (because it is the new model) I was a little skeptical.

She is 1 year old, 30 inches and 26 pounds (a big girl), she fits great in it and seems to love it! The problem is that I want to keep her rear facing until she is 2 and it is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to get her in her carseat while rear facing...there is just not enough room between the carseat and back of seat in van to squeeze her through. I have reclined seat a little more and that has helped some but still will only be able to keep her rear facing for a month or so longer; may have to get another seat. This is not an issue with the car it is due to the carseat coming up around child so high (which is what I originally wanted)!

Great carseat if you are looking for forward facing!

This car seat is great. It's roomy and so soft and has great padding. My son loves it. The only down side is it takes up a lot of room so it wouldn't be good for a small car but other then that it's a great product.

Im a new expecting mom. My husband and I did a lot of research before we choice what car seat we wanted to purchase. Our son won't be here til Dec but we both fell in love with the car seat the minute we saw it. The safety ratings as amazing and the car seat fit in the backseat of my little four door car surprisingly. It is a bit on the bulky side and heavy but that's not a big thing to us. We wanted safe not convince.

Comments about Safety 1st Advance SE 65 Air+ Convertible Car Seat - Newbury:

We looked at all the convertible car seats and my husband really liked this one. I did see the reviews that some thought it was bulky but most of them are. When we put this seat next to the Graco Infant cart seat it did look big when fully reclined.

We have a 2500 GMC Sierra pickup and there was no way this seat would fit in a rear facing reclined position behind the passenger seat if someone were to sit in the front passenger seat. We moved it to the middle seat and used the seat belt to secure it. It fits good now. It's been about a week since we installed it and it seems like our little one likes it. He did get a little hot the other day when I didn't have the air full blast but he's also hot natured.

One of the cons I put is its heavy. It's very heavy. I had to have my husband install it. We most likely will buy a lighter, less expensive seat as a backup that we can take in/out of my husbands company car quickly.

Overall, I'm happy with the car seat so far. It's easy to put the little one in the seat and buckle him up.

Very VEry bulky, i have a midsize SUV and had to move the seats up a bit, it wasn't as easy to install as my other car seats, We have a britax and another safety first one for a small compact car. they were simple compared to this one. BIG pain to install and directions weren't that easy to understand. However because of its big shell it is safe, and that it why i bought it.

I originally had the Chicco car seat and felt that it was too bulky so I returned it for the safety 1st 65. As soon as I got it out of the box, I knew I went from bad to worse! This seat is heavy and I find it hard to get my child in and out! I have an Acura TL and it is a challenge putting her in the seat as she is still rear facing. I think this seat is very safe. It is a snug fit but not horribly tight like the Chicco I purchased and returned.

My husband and I are first time parents. We were trying to find use items to save money. The only thing we didn't knew was car seat expired until a good friend told us. We found out that our car seat was expired 5 years ago! So once we were in the market looking for a safe car seat that will be able to convert to a booster chair we found this big guy. I know a lot of people do not like big car seat but for me the bulkier the better. The padding is great, my daughter loves It that she falls asleeps in minutes! I got to say I am very happy for buying this car seat! It safe nd looks so modern.

This car seat is overall a perfect 10 when it comes to comfort, easy installation and protection. The downfall is that it is VERY bulky. I can't have it in the middle seat in my SUV because I am unable to see out of my rear view mirror. I have it behind the passenger seat now and I have to push the passenger seat all the way up to have it at the recline for rear facing. Also, the angle is too upright.. I LOVE the chest clip compared to the evenflo or graco ones! Unfortunately this is my second convertible car seat I have owned by Safety first and I returned it in exchange for the Graco my size 65. I am much happier with it. If I had a bigger vehicle I would have kept this one.
