GCell
The specially designed foam that makes up GCell HX features hexagonal shapes that reduce the negative energy a child experiences in a crash. Placed specifically around the torso, GCell HX works in conjunction with Air Protect technology around the child's head to provide full-body side impact protection. The superior design of these combined technologies exceeds all federally mandated crash tests.
Steel-reinforced frame
A steel-reinforced metal frame provides extra rigidity to the car seat, while soft fabrics and cushions ensure your child enjoys a comfy ride.
Stress-free installation
The Advance 65 Air+ features unique, stress-free installation thanks to easy-to-identify, color-coded belt paths and installation labels. This user-friendly system helps you install it quickly and correctly, which means less time getting it into your car and more time to enjoy the ride.
Easy-to-adjust, four-position recline
With the recline handle positioned at the back of the seat, it's easy for parents to adjust to the correct and most comfortable angle while the seat is in the rear-facing position. With four different recline options and the ability to easily adjust the seat while your baby grows, it's simple to customize the fit of the Advance SE 65 Air+.
Easy-to-adjust, 10-position headrest
Kids grow quickly! The easy-to-adjust headrest of the Advance 65 Air+ includes 10 different positions, making it simple to keep the important Air Protect Side Impact Protection positioned around your child's head during the ride, from small to tall.

Safety 1st was not my first choice. I was really considering Graco since I had many Graco products in the past and loved them with my other kids. My son is 18 months old and tall for his age. I wanted to keep him rear facing a long time but needed a carseat that would let him do that with the height limits of rear facing. I was debating between the Graco Size4Me carseat and this one. One of the main reasons I didnt go with the graco size4 me was #1 it looked narrow which is good as for fit in my tiny saturn sedan but looked like it would squish my son if he were to sit in it. #2 the Graco size4 me was very hard to recline. Everytime I tried to recline it in the store it was difficult and sounded like it broke which it didnt. Now I know that is only something I would have to deal with once or twice but it just felt very cheaply made to me. I chose this one because it was the same price(I actually got it $30 cheaper) and eventhough it is bulky and heavy I liked that because it felt safe and sturdy to me. I am rear facing him in my tiny saturn on the second recline level and I dont have my seat pushed all the way forward. I had a graco my ride 65 rear facing in my car before this one and I didnt have to move the seat at all forward any more for this carseat, It is wider but that is fine with me. Installation was pretty easy-one main thing I liked is that I dont have latch in my car and I can very easily stick my hand through the rear facing belt path without squishing my hands and hurting myself like with other carseats in the past. I absolutely love how comfy it feels and looks and my son seemed like he loved it as well. I cannot use the rear headrest mirror to see him but my car is pretty small and its not that big of an issue to me.I am overall very pleased so far and its nice to know that he would be safe in a car accident.

We switched our son to this car seat and we are SO disappointed. This car seat is awful for rear facing. my husband has a Corolla and i have a Forester and we both have a difficult time getting our son into this seat. the oversized headrest gives you no opening and its a daily struggle trying to get him in it. also the set up wasn't easy, especially having to make sure it's in the correct reclining position. you have to judge by a line if it is parallel with ground and believe me this is more difficult then it should be. i really wish we went with another seat and we might take the price hit and buy new ones bc i can't see us dealing with this for another year! definitely wouldn't recomment if you have a small car for SUV. It might be better if you have a bigger SUV or minivan.

i was in a very bad accident with my 21 month old son who was forward facing (i know its not suggsted) and he was behind the passenger (also not suggested) and my car was flipped and my son came out of the accident unscathed. hes disabled from birth complications and this carseat preotected him perfectly. im even buying the same exact carseat instead of the chicco nextfit zip convertable ($350+) because i was so happy with its performance! i was thinking about getting the more expensive carseat because i was so scared from the accident but i decided this one did so well in such an important time why change it?

After several endless car rides with my baby girl crying in her infant car seat we finally switched to this one and we have had peace ever since! It is a little big, however, she is so much more comfortable and it can grow with her. Make sure your car can handle the size of it. But I Love this car seat! We can now travel again.

        this thing is huge.

Comments about Safety 1st Advance SE 65 Air+ Convertible Car Seat - Newbury:

This car seat is so heavy and so huge. Check the weight, almost 30 lbs alone. The rear facing position, once the seat is reclined properly for a younger baby, it will push your driver and passenger seat so far forward that you can't even get into your car. Or suv. Or truck. The only place that's going to work is in the middle back seat....which poses a problem once your child gets heavier this making it harder to lift the child in and out of the seat. If you choose to have the seat minimally reclined in the rear facing position, you will not be able to see your child even using a headrest mirror. My Daughter is almost 2 yrs old and I'm feeling forced to turn the seat around already which I had not planned to do for a while. Anyway, it's super safe. Well padded. Durable.

I,ve been to car accident with my 18month old being on the side of the crush. The impact was great, the car needed to be towed away and I ended up with a broken hip. Yet nothing happened to my son. He was sitting exactly where the car was hit. My son is 2 now, happy and healthy. I'm planning to buy another one for my 7month old when she grows out of the infant car seat we have.

Safety 1st wasn't my first choice of car seat off the top of suggestions, but when i got to look more into the impact safety Safety 1st was my number one pick. I knew my daughter was getting bigger she is only one but she still a tiny little girl. I thought it still overall protection that I needed in case of an accident (knock on wood). The car seat was big for my car which I had facing rear still but that's by choice. I took it to California with me my daughter never fussed one bit it had a reclining option that was convenient for me. The inside was really comfortable cushioned, padded and supported properly. Over all I give a Five Star was just everything i was looking for in a car seat.

Comments about Safety 1st Advance SE 65 Air+ Convertible Car Seat - Newbury:

                  We love this car seat!
We did lots of research before purchasing and didnt consider money a factor, it never is with safety involved. This carseat reigned supreme and its price was still very nice! A great deal comparatively.
When you install it you need to make sure the belts are installed properly for rear facing or forward facing, otherwise it will seem the belts are too short when you buckle your child in. So Read the Instructions carefully.
There is so much leg room! My daughter was touching the seatback in her old car seat and now shes not even close, its a great design. We plan to Extended Rear Face and this seat will definitely do the trick. Its great quality too. It will easily last for Two Children. Our daughter is so much more comfortable and less fidgety in this seat. Plus we do enjoy the cup holder!
I would recommend this to a friend!! I have!
