Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

These Shields were the only thing that allowed me to breastfeed my newborn for the first 10 weeks. Unknown to me, I have flat nipples and baby would not latch on. Nurses suggested I switch to a bottle in the hospital. Taking the advice from the LC in the hospital, I tried these shields as a last ditch effort. They are truly a lifesaver and allowed me to breastfeed my daughter exclusively. They are a must for any new mom who wants to breastfeed but is having difficulties. Now proud to say that after 10 weeks we are finally breastfeeding without the shields...i was initially worried about weaning, but it WILL happen in time. Other reviewers are correct, it does make nursing somewhat difficult in public, or when the baby keeps knocking off the shield. But it's a small price to pay to know you are giving your child the very best. I highly recommend this item!!! Buy two or three to have one in the diaper bag, or washed and ready to go when baby is hungry.

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

I have flat/inverted nipples, and my daughter was very small (4lb13oz) when she was born, so she had difficulty latching on in the hospital. once my milk came in, it was even worse, since i was so swollen. my mom is a lactation consultant and bought these for me. they are a lifesaver! i use them every time i feed my LO. i also found that by using this, it made the transition to the bottle (i pump also) a breeze. she has no problems switching between the two, since she really cant tell the difference. no pain or sore nipples for me!

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

I had difficulty breastfeeding due to my son not being able to latch on. His pediatrician told us about this product and now I am able to breastfeed him without any difficulty. It rarely hurts when he eats. You don't need to use any lotion for it to stick on. I also use it when pumping.

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

If it had not been for these nipple shields, I would not be able to breastfeed. My nipples are too small for my wee one to latch onto and these shields make breastfeeding him possible. They are also great because I do not leak all over the place. I have to boil them frequently and I suggest buying a couple if you plan to use them. The only issue I have is that my little man gets fussy waiting for me to put it on.

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

I could have never breastfed w/o this wonderful tool. I have flat/inverted nipples and it was very hard to nurse my baby in the hospital especially having nurses w/ very little patience to help me. The downfall is that it becomes very, very inconvenient to use in public and in the middle of the night when u are fumbling to get it on right and the baby is knocking it off. It is also very messy when it comes off b/c milk sits in the tip. In all great tool but to have success in LONG TERM breastfeeding find a lactation consultant to teach u to latch correctly.

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

I didn't get the opportunity to breastfeed my first daughter due to flat nipples so I spent a lot of time pumping and then bottle feeding just to ensure she got my milk. When I became pregnant again I came across these and thought I would give them a shot. They are GREAT!!! After having one consultation with the lactation speacialist in the hospital and she showed me how to properly use them, it was smoothe sailing ever since. I love that I get to breastfeed my second daughter and the amount of time it saves from having to pump all the time. I highly recommend this product for anyone struggling with latch on difficulties.

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

I'm only in my 2nd week of breastfeeding, but I don't think I could have gone past the 1st week without these nipple shields (first given to me by the lactation specialist @ the hospital). I'm actually using size 24mm. These are helping me heal and tolerate the every 2-3hr feedings for my newborn. These are a must have for those who have sore nipples!

Comments about Medela Contact Nipple Shield - 20MM:

the other day i was ready to throw in the towel with breast feeding. even though the nurses in the hospital told me he was latched correctly, i was still in SO much pain breast feeding. I got to the point of bawling crying every time id have to feed and i was absolutely dreading it. Not to mention the thought of having to quit made me cry even more lol. so i thought id try these shields... they dont eliminate all pain with the initial latch but they definitely make it tolerable. i love breast feeding now with them. i dont think they are meant to use constantly but i figure this is better than switching to formula. id highly recommend this to anyone thats ready to quit breast feeding due to pain. once you get the hang of getting them stuck on (use the nipple cream stuff to stick it to your skin) and get the baby used to it.. you will be in heaven and so thankful.

My girlfriend recommended this to me and I'm so glad she did. I've also recommended this to all the new moms I know. It's a total life saver making the breastfeeding experience a positive one for both you and your baby! I used it for about 1 month, until my son was an absolute pro at nursing and he had no problems coming off of it. Even if your baby doesn't eventually come off this wonderous product, why fret? Your baby is getting liquid gold and you still have that amazing bonding time together. Don't let anyone discourage you from using this product or make you feel like a cheater for doing so!
