Thank goodness I never read all this ridiculously bad reviews on the internet, but went directly to the Babies R Us store and inspected them myself. The latches are great!! It's moderate to install. Easy for everyone who knows how to use tools. Make sure you pre drill the holes before screwing in screws. It can also be adjusted up and down. I also like Philips head, because it can be much easier screwed in, and you can also use electric drill which makes installing really fast. Make sure you have THE RIGHT SIZE PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER. Make also sure that you position them right and mark them before drilling. They withhold very strong hands of my toddler, and the feature I really like is that I can disengage them with just turn of the latch and vice versa. I also purchased some magnetic locks. Which are fool proof; but I found them impractical (need to get the key and position it right, and that takes to much time for my bathroom cabinet doors). I would definitely recommend this product.

These cabinet safety locks are horrible. First off they are a hassle to install. Second, unless your fingers are the size of a 1 year old, it is extremely difficult to slide your fingers in the space provided after the product has been installed to release the door or drawer. Now I'm going to have to replace them or pull my hair out. Additionally, after installing these it takes a little while to get used to them and you will ocasionally give the door or drawer a tug, and by doing so a couple of times they will break. Buy another device, this one should stay on the shelf.

Don't waste your money
By Mom to awesome kids

Since my son was taking everything out of the cabinets, I needed to start locking up stuff. So. I bought this and installed it. It was very easy to installed, however one week later my one year old figured out how to open it. Now, I'm back to square one.
Don't waste money or time on these

This product does not hold up. First off if the tip breaks the product doesn't work right so you have to replace it with another. My granddaughter who isn't even one, put her weight on a low drawer equipped with one of these locks, and ended up opening the drawer full of glass. These particular locks are not the easiest to pivot around and they still stick out in the way. I am replaceing everyone one of these faulty locks.......with the prograde pivot latches which actually push out of the way when not in use. I haven't had any problems with those. Nothing compairs to what was around when my kids were little. But these paticular locks are really cheap and flimsy.........don't waste your money!

Install both pieces!

About Me Avid Do-It-Yourselfer
I installed these on 22 cabinet doors around the house, and have been very pleased with them. I read lots of complaints that say it breaks quickly or doesn't work if the kid gives a good "tug" on the door. I suspect that many of those people followed the "optional" instructions and didn't install the plastic base on the cabinet side. If that is installed, the latch hooks into it and won't let go. If you just have it latch onto the side of the cabinet, there's nothing to hook, and a strong enough pull could make it slip (in theory). Also, I didn't install these on any drawers. Drawers, by their nature, are going to put a lot more strain on a latch, and I'm not sure if these are heavy-duty enough for those. What I love most about these is being able to turn then "on and off". I was able to install them over the course of months, and once our son started pulling up, we flipped them all to "on". Some of the cabinets in rooms he doesn't go into I leave "off", but could flip them any time if he starts going in there. The flexibility is nice. Here's a tip: Drill a 1/16" pilot hole, and put a piece of tape on the drill bit to mark the depth (the length of the screw minus the width of the plastic). That way you're less likely to drill all the way through the door.

Worked for about a month
from San Antonio, TX
These were easy to install, but they aren't very strong. After about a month of my 1 y/o pulling on the two doors they were installed on they broke. I like the pro grade ones much better.
works for our toddler

Not sure why some people were not able to install them. My husband said it was a bit of a hassle but he installed about 15 of them around the house. They have been installed for 6 months now and none of them broke. They work well for our house and our toddler. Maybe people who tested them yanked the drawers too hard...your toddler is not that strong. The deal is to make sure to install it at the right position so the "hook" grips the other side well.We bought the magnetic type too, but keep loosing the magnet or my daughter keeps taking it, so just gave up on those.

Better than those pricey ones!

So easy to install. This was my 5th set of locks and much better than those pricey magentic ones! Easy to install:You do not need both parts of this lock set to work, you can have the latch hook directly on the cabinet frame as I did. I used 5/64" drill bit (very small hole compared to the other lock sets I had) and then one screw and VOILA my daughter can't get in the cupboards!I used the back of the package (cardboard) to make a template so I could do all the drilling at once, and make them even throughout my kitchen. I had two people help me install those magnetic locks (two different brands) and they left a foam-tape mess on my cupboards and didn't open withthe key ! I returned them and instead of paying [$] per set I only paid [$] for this brand. These are shorter than other drawer/cabinet locks so less room to pinch fingers. I am happy with them and my daughter isn't :)

These work well however, installation is somewhat of pain. The company should have chosen a square head instead of a phillips head. The screws fall off the bit very easily when installing. Other than that these are great.
