This cabinet lock is perfect for use on infrequently-accessed cabinets. I've got them on the utility room cabinets (under sink area), on guest bath cabinets (under sink area), and on our CD-holding cabinets (since all our music has been digitalized). They are difficult to figure out but once you get the hang of it they are not physically hard to open.

I think if you tried to use these on cabinets that you were getting into ALL the time, several times a day, then they would be extremely frustrating. For those cabinets I've got Tot Locks on the dangerous stuff (cabinets under the kitchen sink w/ cleaners, etc.) and I'm still using heavy-duty rubber bands on the other cabinets (rubber bands are wound around one knob and then wound around the opposite knob). 15-month old doesn't mess w/ the rubber bands much unless she sees that I've left one undone. Winding the rubber bands around the knobs helps deter her meddling hands. She can still open the doors a bit but it's hard to get stuff out when both doors are opening toward her but linked together w/ the rubberbands.

I bought this for my under-the-sink cupboard that I kept all the cleaners in. My son quickly learned to open the cupboards even with the drawer latches, so we simply kept toys and tupperware in the cupboards he could reach. We did want to keep the "poisons" away from him and the food prep area though. I love Safety 1st and bought this 2 pack item. I could never get the latch open myself and always had to have my husband do it for me. So, if hubby wasn't home, Mom couldn't clean.

Also, my son at 16 mos learned if he held the two doors together in the middle and pulled with his weight, it would cause the latch to be forcibly opened and fall off. I went through both latches quickly after that. We are going to try the zip tie model next. Not recommended with curious little ones or parents that do not have time or patience to spend 10 minutes trying to get into the cupboard!

Comments about Safety 1st 2 Pk Grip N Go Cabinet Locks:

We've been using 2 of these for over 3 years. The design is not able to fit on all cabinet doors due to the shape, and it takes a certain angle to slide onto our cabinet lock. We use this under the sink in the kitchen and on the entertainment center middle doors.
When the elder was a baby we left this unlocked just on the sink cabinet and it was enough to deter him, until the day he figured how to remove it. It is not easy to unlock, needing 2 counter acting motions, but that guarantees no child will unlock it! A little practice and it's easy to open 1 handed with dry hands. The negative reviewers need to be more patient and practice a little. It took some practice to get the hang of it, but now that we have we love it!

Comments about Safety 1st 2 Pk Grip N Go Cabinet Locks:

I purchased this product to lock 2 of my lower cabinets now that my 2nd is crawling. I have a similar product from when my 1st was at this age; however, this product is much more difficult to operate than the cabinet lock I already have. It's hard to open and close this thing even when it's not around cabinet handles and your hands are clean and dry. Imagine using it to open the cabinet under the kitchen sink when your hands are wet. No thank you.

As many other reviews have stated, these locks are almost impossible for parents to use (lock sticks and VERY hard to adjust). More importantly, I bought them because it says they fit knobs up to 4.75" apart (and ours are 4.5"); unfortunately, though the entire length may be 4.75, because of the curved top, you can't get them on knobs wider than 4" apart! Taking them back for sure.

I bought this lock thinking it would be easy for me & my husband to get on/off the cabinets. First of all, they do not clasp together enough to put it in a locked position. Second, they are hard to get off once on the cabinet. I felt like I was going to break the lock when I tried to open it straight from the package! I will definitely be returning this product!

Comments about Safety 1st 2 Pk Grip N Go Cabinet Locks:

I purchased these on a whim because I was tired of waiting around for my husband to install the safety first wide latch cabinet hinges. I thought these would fit perfectly because the picture shows it being used on knob cabinet door hardware which is what I have. Big mistake! These latches are too wide. If your knobs are close to each other then don't both with these. I put them on and it wouldn't even close enough. I could deal with the fact that they are ridiculously hard to open but the fact that it wasn't even made to tighten enough to fit standard cabinetry knobs is ridiculous. The idea is there but it just went terribly wrong with sizing. I like how it lets you know if it is locked or not. I am going to return these and install the wide latch ones which are better, I have 3 installed so far and I love them.

I just bought these locks last week, and I'm now looking at other options. The locks are very difficult for adults to open and use. I need 2 hands and some muscle strength to open. Not practical for cabinets I use daily.

At first, we had a hard time opening this lock. I quickly learned a way to open it with ease. My husband and I would set the lock on a certain length. Far enough for us to easily slip over our knobs, but close enough to where our son can't. Now it's easy access. When we need something, we just slip it out over the knobs. My son still can't figure it out and he's a smart kid too.
