Another great toy in the Safari line. It really does work. My grandaughter does not like bugs but this has helped her overcome her fear. She can see that not all bugs are bad and she can study them.

This toys is not strong enough to pick up even a tiny ant. We put fresh batteries in and tried to catch a moth. The moth clung to the funnel piece and then flew away.

All the backyard safari toys have the same problem, they reel you in with the promise of great educational fun only to find out half the stuff doesn't work. The bug vacuum is too weak to vacuum up an ant. The binoculars don't focus- heck they even have a whistle that doesn't work (the dollar store even delivers on that one). Basically, they sold out to make the stuff cheaply offshore and lost the point to the product along the way. More fodder for landfills, dangit!
I would give this 5 stars if it only worked!

NEVER WORKED FROM THE GET GO! I ordered this and had it shipped as a gift. When it arrived with several other items...it didn't work. Thankfully, they sent out a replacement, but my little friend received a toy which was no good and had to wait for the second one to arrive.

If you have a boy (or girl) who loves bugs then this is the perfect toy for them. This toy comes with attachments that allows them to catch the bugs and examine the bugs. It has a detachable part with built in magnifier which works as a bug holder and a magnifier. It's also nice because it doesn't harm the bugs. Also, if they come across a strange scary bug, they don't have to touch the bug because of the vacuum. I think it's a great product for the price.

Keeping a lizard as a pet is pretty easy, until you figure in what your little friend eats; tiny little escape artists known as crickets! When one manages to escape, it used to be maddening crawling around on the floor trying to catch it with your hands. Now with the bug vac, my life is just a little bit easier. Just aim, pull the trigger and the little nasty is in the capture core. Then I either toss it into my gecko's tank or put it back in the keeper.

Only complaint I had was that the suction was pretty weak. But I found that if you change the batteries it solves that problem. I only thought to do that because the laser light's battery was dead when I bought it.

Great concept, comes with bug catcher capsule (and extra). Also comes with batteries which is always a plus. I didn't give five stars because the suction isn't has good an I would like. However, my daughter loves it.

We bought this for our oldest grandson years ago and he had a ball "sucking up bugs." Our daughter said the vacuum was not as strong later on. We have now bought it again for our 3 and 5 year old grandsons. This product now says "new and improved" on it. Because it is so much fun, we are trying it again.

This bug vacuum is great for sucking up flies that get in the house! We have also gone outside and caught crickets to feed our two anoles (lizards). It is as much fun for me as it is for my kids (9 and 7).
