Each piece, called a pentominoe, represents one of only 12 ways in which 5 squares of equal size can be joined edge to edge. Confused? You haven't even tried it yet! i've tried a lot of different sets of pentominoes including a homeade set i made out of blocks and these aren't anything special. the other ones didn't work better butthey didn't work worse.it's prettyhard to mess up pentominoes.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
