I have had this pad for 6mths now and love it. On the changing table is my sons Favorite place, surprisingly. He laughs and plays every time he is on it.
I love the 3 sides as it is well contoured to keep him from rolling around too much and at the head is great so he doesn't hit the frame of the changing table that surrounds it. It is well cushioned and supportive. It actually sits about 3-4 inches on the sides, with the dip in the middle.
I am actually a little bummed because he is so big already that we may be looking at the last month or so of using it as he is almost as long as the pad and outgrowing it.

As far as covers go...I use the Simmons Terry cloth cover, which reviews state is small. It is snug to get on the pad and sits up like a tent on the pad due to the 3 sides, however, the first time I put my son on it the cover relaxes and forms to the pad. I knew this when I bought it as I tried the cover on it with the plastic still on. I knew this was the pad I wanted, the cover would of had to change before I gave it up. But, just like any cotton product, they give and stretch. I have had NO problem with my cover. I bought that one because the shade of green, but have never thought of replacing it in the 6mths of using it due to not fitting or any other issue.
Someone in a previous post mentioned that the stretch the material has across the top of the pad could be a hazard...not sure how. Your baby will not sit up like on a trampoline. The covers will give with first use, and yes every time you wash it the same will happen, but it will give every time.

Our DD was born in 3/2011 and we've used this changing pad continuously since day 1. It's large, soft, and comfortable. I've even used it on the floor for safe newborn naps! I noticed a couple small tears by the foot of the pad in the last month, but the stuffing isn't coming out and we use the Carters pad covers so it's not a big deal. It's lasted 17 months now and it's held up pretty good. I don't understand some reviews that complain about it tearing after 12 months of use. It's a changing pad. It gets used heavily in the first year and it's not meant to last for the child's lifetime.

My baby loves this product. I highly recommend buying at least 3 changing pad covers for when baby makes an oops! We found any changing pad cover works but we really loved the Carters dot changing pad covers because they were so soft. The changing pad was so easy to wipe clean if there was a mess.

Great changing pad. Makes it easier on me when the little guy is a newborn so I don't have to go up/down stairs everytime I need to change him. I've got this in the downstairs bedroom and its super handy and supportive. Its definitely pretty big so I wouldn't recommend if you have a small area for it.
