A poor humidifier

Although the humidifier still works after 2 months of regular use (though not 7 days a week or 24 hours per day by any means), the humidifier now makes a loud rattle. Plus, the time and expense required to clean it so that it doesn't stink -- think gallons upon gallons of white vinegar, with a vinegar cleaning at least every two or three days -- make it simply not worthwhile.

I figured use a filterless humdifier would be great, but it was impossible to clean. I used it for approximately one month and then I took it back to the store advising that there was no way to clean it and I was not losing out on the money I had spent on it. This was the fourth humidifier I had purchased b/c I honestly cannot find any humidifier that is easy to keep clean!

We bought this product thinking it must be good since it's Vicks (a name we all know) and it costs a lot...well this is a perfect example of price not always reflecting quality. It didn't seem to do very much as far as relieving any ailments(I still couldn't breathe after hours of use), it was big and bulky, and to top it off it sounded like a jet airplane engine in my bedroom! It is definitly by no ones standards even remotly close to being quiet. Buy something else...I did.

The best thing about this humidifier is that you don't need a filter. It sounded great for about the first 6 months or so, then it seemed to get louder. As long as you don't move it when filled, I've never had a problem with it leaking. I use regular tap water in it and have never had a problem with film on my furniture. It is however very difficult to clean.

Do not buy this humidifier. It leaves a white sticky film on everything in the room, which is very difficulty to remove. This film has ruined the roman shades I made for my son's room. Also, it emits a very funky smell.

I LOVE this humidifier! We have been using it for 6 months, and I have been very satisfied with it. My son has breathing problems, and this humidifier has helped him breathe a lot easier. The hum it makes has never bothered my son, and the tank holds enough water for a couple of nights. I have never had a problem with white film because we use filtered water, which is what the instructions say to use. I also have never had a problem with this humidifier leaking...it doesn't happen if everything is screwed on correctly! I highly recommend this humidifier, and I plan on getting another one for myself.

I have found that if I use the filtered water from my refridgerator dispenser instead of tap water, the white dust is almost completely allieviated. We have very hard water here, which is a huge problem for any humidifier. This has been the best humidifier I have used.

While this product definitely humidifies...the negatives FAR outweigh the positives. First off...the humidifier leaves a white sticky film all over EVERYTHING in the room you use it in. Its disgusting and makes me wonder what my daughter is ingesting from this thing. THEN...cleaning this humidifier is a TOTAL nightmare. The directions it gives you cleans the accessible parts, but the motor gets dirty too, and there is NO way to clean it (trust me, I've tried). I thought spending [$] once would be better than $10 every month for a new filter, but I was wrong. DO NOT BUY THIS HUMIDIFIER!

I really found this product to be very good. I have NEVER had a problem with it leaving film on walls and furniture, and my youngers sons room is rather small. Also never had a foul smell from it either. You do have to do a rinse every few days, or of course you will get a stale smell, it is water after all. And the directions DO tell you that also.
It has a nice quiet humming sound that lulls the my boys to sleep, and not having to worry about a filter is definitly a plus.
