My mattress has a strong "plastic-ish" odor! I aired it outdoors for two days and it doesn't seems to be going away.... I'm feeling frustrated/confused as to whether this is just some sort of normal thing or not? I thought an organic mattress would be odor free not smelling chemical-ish!

After 4 years of use (we used it for two different children), it's still a great product. It's still firm, holds it's original shape, no tears. I would truly recommend this product to everybody.

I just bought this mattress to replace my old one. I was looking for one that didn't have any toxic chemicals. My baby spends most of her day sleeping so it was very important to me that she is not spending all of that time breathing in harsh chemicals. After researching, this mattress had so many overwhelmingly positive reviews. And I am so happy with it. It fits my crib perfectly and my baby sleeps great!! What more could I ask for?

I love this organic mattress. I use it with my first child and ordered another for the one on the way. The organic materials (no PVC or pthalates) makes me feel better because a child is in contact with the mattress more than any other item. It is firm and holds up well to a toddler running around on it!

I bought this mattress based on the product description and other customer reviews. I feel great about the piece of mind a high quality mattress provides. It is expensive, but we plan to use it for years. We bought it to use with the Sorelle Verona Lifetime Crib - Espresso. It was a great fit. The sheets from the CoCaLo Daniella 6 Piece Crib Bedding Set fit great. The Organic Cotton Crib and Toddler Bed Mattress Pad fits great. My due date is still 6 weeks away, so I haven't used it with baby yet. I tried to add a picture but I don't know how to do that with my iPad.

I decided to take the plunge and purchase this mattress even though it costs twice as much as the Sealy Soybean mattress, which I purchased first. I brought home the Sealy one and noticed it may still contain VOCs. So, I decided to return it. I don't know if all the hype about organic mattresses are true and if traditional mattresses really release harmful chemicals that may or may not affect the baby, but I thought better play it safe and give my baby the best I can afford. And since this mattress isn't 10x the price of the others, I decided to buy it (unlike some strollers costing $800+!).

Now, I've opened this Naturepedic one and have no regrets. There is no significant chemical smell upon opening it, just a slight plastic odor. We aired it out in the living room and put it into our Graco Lauren crib. It fits perfectly. Also, I was debating whether or not to buy the higher coil Naturepedic mattress, but given the price on this one already, I didn't. Right now, I think the 150 coils is absolutely sufficient. When you press on it, it is really really firm and does not give in much. My baby isn't due for another 2 months, so I won't know how it'll handle down the line. However, right now, I feel good about this hopefully one-time purchase! Maybe it'll hold up for the next baby too!

[...]According to the tag on the mattress, it was handmade within 48 hours of purchase right here in the USA which is comforting to know it wasn't sitting around a warehouse collecting who knows what. When pulled out of the plastic sleeve there was NO chemical smell and it felt wonderful to the touch. The mattress fits nice and snug in my convertible crib and has a nice weight to it (neither too light and flimsy or heavy). The mattress feels nice and firm yet comfortable. My son isn't born yet so I can't attest to it's comfort for a sleeping infant/toddler, but I suspect it will be a peaceful rest. Sheet changes will be a bit of a struggle as the mattress had to be lifted out of the crib for me to tuck a fitted sheet at all 4 corners properly, but I would rather the mattress be snug then have my babies hands/arms or body slip between the mattress and crib rails. Although costly, if you can afford an organic mattress this is the way to go. If not, Naturepedic makes a wonderful organic waterproof mattress pad that fits great on a standard mattress. Overall, I would recommend this product to others.
