Description

Armed with powerful canons and fierce pirates, the Brickbeard's Bounty sails the Seven Seas looking for treasure and adventure! The King's Navy will have a hard time of it trying to get the treasure for themselves!

To be able to understand why LEGO has been successful for so long, just look to the name. LEGO originally got its name from founder Ole Kirk Christiansen by combining the Danish words Leg Got that means play well and later realized that the word LEGO in Latin translates to I put together. The LEGO set became a standard of creative play for children around the world, unlocking the creativity to build vehicles, buildings, cities and more. Most historians point to the invention of the wheel as a major turning point in world history. The invention of the LEGO wheel had the same monumental effect in the history of LEGO, making it possible to create cars, trucks and eventually the LEGO train building set that is one of the most successful LEGO sets of all time. LEGO innovation continues to this day with product lines like DUPLO that was created in 1969 for smaller hands and still thrives. Movie tie-ins, such as LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Indiana Jones Adventures and LEGO SpongeBob are some of the most popular sets. The Sci-Fi LEGO Bionicle sets have a huge following but the number one selling LEGO set of all time is The LEGO Mindstorms Robotics Invention System. Over 1 million of these sets were sold around the world. In 2009 LEGO introduces the next generation LEGO Mindstorms NXT 2.0! LEGO currently produces about 20 billion LEGO bricks a year and has sold over 400 billion LEGOs in their history -- enough for every person on the planet to have over 60 LEGOs each!

Awful. Worst Legos kit we've ever had.
By Ruby's mommy from Florida on 12/5/2009
Cons:
Difficult Assembly, Doesn't Stack Well, Flimsy
Best Uses:
Imaginative Play, Older Children
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about LEGO Pirates: Brickbeard's Bounty (6243):

Pieces don't stay together well. Some parts *VERY* difficult to assemble (sails). Even if it were half the price it wouldn't be worth the money. Only saving grace is that my son thinks it looks cool. Wonder how cool it will be when I tell him to fix it himself, LOL.

Seeing that i'm the best of all of you (no offense it's just i'm older than your kids and in all, yes I counted I have over 8,500 lego peices and 62 lego sets largest being the star destroyer) I must say this is fun for a 10 year old kid who has wars or an aged collector like myself

Comments about LEGO Pirates: Brickbeard's Bounty (6243):

My son wanted this but we too knew it was a bit expensive. He ended up getting it for 3kings day. He was thrilled. His father tried to help him put it together, but got tired. Joe finished the rest on his own and he's 6! He's played with it every day since.

Comments about LEGO Pirates: Brickbeard's Bounty (6243):

My 10 yr. old was thrilled to get this set from Santa. He received all of the Pirates' Legos except for one of the larger sets, but ended up purchasing that one with a gift card. Even with the price being higher than I wanted to pay, I knew Brickbeard's Bounty was a must, and Santa had to come through. My sons and I know the Lego quality (due to owning LITERALLY dozens of sets) and the attention to detail would not let us down. With Legos being one of the few items out there for older children to "play with", the Pirates series certainly entertains and allows for much imaginative play. So far this is my son's favorite "series" of Legos.
