This product was a terror to hang. It kept peeling, curling, air bubbles etc. We ended up throwing it out. I wouldn't recommend hanging yourself or even with two people, which you'll need. Hire a professional if you really want it.

Just to be clear, there are TWO versions of this map. This C810 version is plain wallpaper. There's also a C900 version that has an extra layer of film on it that makes it DRY ERASE. (-able)

I use this map in my high school classroom. The students love it. The comments re: time & labor required to install are all true, but c'est la vie.

All students love it, even my non-history/geog students. It also serves as a great conversation starter re: the distortions all maps make. (e.g. in reality Greenland is smaller than Algeria, not roughly the same size as all of Africa as this map implies.)

The biggest drawback is that the map will shrink and/or crack during low-humidity winters. Make sure you have adequate humidity control.

The map covered the entire wall in the bedroom of a critically ill child. He will be able to use pushpins to show where people live he has met on the Internet due to his illness, places he has visited and places he would like to visit some day!

Where to begin...

First up, know that this is not traditional wallpaper. It is paper. Fragile when wet, not easy to handle and less than durable when dry.

It comes in 8 panels. Somehow I envisioned 4 long ones. Not so. EIGHT panels to adjust *just so*.

My husband who can do anything had a difficult and frustrating 5+ hours applying this mural. My help was necessary as well as it's really a two person job when trying to match up the panels.

We bought extra glue in advance as someone stated they ran out. That was completely unnecessary. There was plenty left over even if we had globbed on twice as much.

The paper expands when wet and shrinks when dry. You have to apply glue to one panel at a time, let it sit for 10 minutes and then affix to the wall. Once the first one is up, DON'T STOP the process. That one will begin to shrink as you work on the next and so on. This makes for very tricky time lining things up. Waiting too long in between panels will seriously mess you up.

End product looks great and we have gotten a lot of compliments. However, if you look a little more closely, you can see areas where trimming the wet paper got messy and it tore too far into the map. VERY frustrating when you've spent 5 hours working on it and seventy dollars on it.

We have yet to determine the durability over time. I am paranoid about scratching it and putting any furniture near it that might scrape it. We shall see. This was installed in a 9 year old boy's bedroom so I will have to let it go at some point. ;)

Will we do it again? Not likely. If you can hire someone to do it for you, totally do so.

We love this map! We put it in our kids' room. Our oldest, 5, loves maps. We have so much fun telling him about all the different countries we've been and all the places he'll see.

I have this map up in my living room and love it. I had one in a previous home too and it's a great conversation piece. It is reasonable easy to put up. I used too much glue on the first couple panels and ran out on the last few.
