          I bought two of these when they first came out about 8 - 10 years ago i guess. And my 8 year old nephew has me break them out and play with them and battle with them every time he comes over. I can't believe that they have lasted this long and still work great with all the battles we have had! Highly recommend!

          Our 8 year old Star Wars fanatic played with one of these at a friend's house and loved it so much that we got him one for his birthday. Yes, it's supposed to be a collector's item for older kids, but nobody in their right mind would just leave it on a shelf. It's light and sounds are super cool, even cooler when fighting with another light saber, and make him feel like a real jedi. Fight too hard with them and they will break; he managed to keep from destroying it so far and knows not to bring it out around kids who are too rough. The speaker for the sound on ours has been a little bit fuzzy since the day we got it, but he refused to let us send it back to get another one, and he doesn't seem to mind. Costs a lot for a toy but he loves it more than his bike.

          Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

          This product looks great on the site, but isn't what you'd expect from a [$] collector's toy. The saber tip is made of some sort of plastic whereas I was expecting some sort of glass material. I guess this is so the saber can be played with, but again, it's supposed to be a collector's item. All in all, it seems like a good replica of the real thing if used as a toy, but not for a collector's item. Sounds are ok. The package says it makes 4 but we could only identify 3. It is waaaaaaaay overpriced.

            I think it is an awful lot of money for a "toy" that you can't use, but my son is out of his mind excited about it. He is just enamored with the fact that it is so "life like". So with his complete love of this item in mind I give it my approval and high ratings. I am sure most boys that utterly adore Star Wars will be equally in love with this item. It is definately for Star Wars buffs only!
