Product Description

For Food Allergies and Colic Due to Protein Sensitivity

While sensitivity to the protein in both milk-based and soy-based baby formulas is uncommon, it's good to know there is a trusted alternative. If your babys digestive system is especially sensitive and requires an extra-gentle baby formula, ask your physician about Similac Expert Care Alimentum Hypoallergenic Infant Formula.

Similac Expert Care Alimentum starts to reduce colic symptoms* in most babies in just 24 hours. Its easy for sensitive babies to digest because its protein is broken down into tiny pieces to virtually eliminate allergic reactions in most babies who are allergic to cows milk protein.

Signs of Protein Sensitivity: Some babies have long crying spells and cannot be easily comforted. This excessive crying or fussiness is sometimes called colic, and may be due to a sensitivity to the protein. Other symptoms such as severe diarrhea, rashes, and even sleeping problems also can be caused by protein sensitivity. As with all feeding decisions during the first year, consult your baby's health care professional.

*Colic symptoms due to protein sensitivity Based on a clinical study with Similac Expert Care Alimentum Ready To Feed without DHA and ARA

the rtf 32 ounce quart bottles do not contain corn. The powder has corn as the main ingredient that is why it smells the worst. This version is much batter smell and it cost about same as the powder so no loss getting this. The 8 ounce cans have bpa in the cans, but Not this bottle.
This formula is not a cure all but has helped my baby signifigantly. My little one was born at 26 weeks preemie baby. When he came home the formula they put him on he could not digest. I spent 5 weeks trying to tolerate neosure because it has more viatamins and calories little babies need. and was convinced(brainwashed)into/of this by doctors at hospital to the point they made me afraid to try anything else.. My little one ended up having bad slime and blood in stool due to protien intolerance and allergy this is common in preemie babies. I was mad at similac(abbott) for charging so much for the powder can and it has corn also not tolerated by most babies with milk protien intolerances. I do not find it halps at all with the reflux. but he keeps most of this formula down and poops with no bad stuff in it. Took a week before the other stuff washed out of his digestive track and i really saw best change.
Hope this helps

My son was diagnostic with pediatric feeding issues and has been on Alimentum since 8 weeks. It has been a great option since he has sensitivities to milk protein, soy, and corn.

Comments about Abbott Nutrition 1010224 Similac Expert Care Alimentum Formula Ready to Feed - 32 Ounce:

Stanford Hospital first gave us this as a supplement until Mommy could produce adequate amounts of milk. The advantage here is the protein is broken down already to make sure the child can absorb easier and reduces the allergic reactions that can be cause by the milk proteins. Feelings are usually every 2 hours so now baby is two months old we use regular similac advanced for night feedings. The reason for this is the longer digestion process to break down the food. This allows more space between feedings, 4 hours instead of two. We slowly introduced this just in case baby had problems breaking down the food. The Alimentum although $2 more per bottle was definitely worth it for our baby to get a jump start.

Comments about Abbott Nutrition 1010224 Similac Expert Care Alimentum Formula Ready to Feed - 32 Ounce:

We have huge issues with reflux. After being on 5 different formulas in less than a month we finally found alimentum to be working. The powder was causing issues though, never could get baby to really want to eat it... Switched to the RTF and she sucked down the whole bottle with no issues!! No wet burps or spit ups either! HIGHLY RECOMMEND the RTF vs. powder

This might be the only formula my son will tolerate. It's not a perfect product. Though. He still has stomach trouble so I put simethicone drops in his bottles.

Comments about Abbott Nutrition 1010224 Similac Expert Care Alimentum Formula Ready to Feed - 32 Ounce:

From the moment my son was on formula at a week old he screamed in pain during every feeding, and after unless he was sleeping. His pediatrician kept telling me he had colic. I knew this was wrong as colic babys cry during a part of the day but still eat, he wasn't wanting to eat. After an upper GI we found he had reflux. Even though he was never constipated or had any stool issues, his pediatrician said they thought he had a milk protein intolerance and so we went from Enfamil Gentlease powder to Similac Alimentum powder, no change in his behavior at all. Still screaming at every feeding and spitting up just as much if not more. So I did my own research and found out that out of all formula's both Ready To Feeds and powedered, the Ready To Feed Alimentum is the ONLY formula that has no corn in it at all. My sons father was allergic to corn as a child. I told his pediatrician this and their response was corn allergies are rare and they wanted me to keep him on the powdered Alimentum that is about 35% corn, put him on reflux meds, and give him gas relief drops after every feeding. Seriously?!?! I refused to medicate my son because they wouldn't take the time to figure out what was wrong. So on my own, I switched him to the RTF Alimentum and BINGO! I am happy to say I have a totally different baby. He eats like a pig, never cries during feedings, no gas problems, will do tummy time now, and spits up about 99% less than he did on the powdered formula. The first bottle of RTF with him was like a magic moment, it was the first feeding he didn't look in pain while eating. I don't know if it is really a corn allergy (he's 2 months old and to young to test) or if it is just the powdered formula was much to hard on his stomach. I just know that it's nice to finally have a happy and comfortable baby that I can finally get to know and enjoy.

All three of my children were/are Milk and Soy Protein Intolerant as babies. This formula was the only thing they could drink without any reaction. Although Alimentum is expensive, it is worth every penny. The pre-made formula is easy to use and convenient.
