Hello Strider, We love the balance bike! It’s awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time. Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide â€" “weeeeeâ€ he said. He tried pedals (on a 12â€ bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn’t comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12â€ bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels! Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12â€ pedal bike, walked with him saying, “pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycleâ€ and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo’s 16â€ bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it! I’ve included a video compilation (it’s 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen’s bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling! Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process. I feel it is the best balance bike on the market. Mark Weissinger Moab, Utah http://youtu.be/NrCr_3nYkeE

Stiff handlebars

I took it to bike shop because the Handlebars would not turn after I put it together. They got it loosened up a bit but my daughter still can't turn it.

My 3 year old son LOVES it!

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Classic No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

This is my sons second balanc bike, but by far the best one! I love the fact it comes with two seats, as he is almost ready for the larger one. I love the ease of the adjustments on the seat and handle bars. Love that I can add a break! This bike with grow with him! The only down falls I've seen so far is one, the bike frame scrapes on a curb when he goes on and off the side walk so after only a couple weeks it has scraped off the paint. And the other thing are the blots that hold the back wheel on hit my sons legs or feet when he's moving along. At first it bothered him but he quickly learned to not hit it and now it's not an issue, I wouldn't let this part of my review deter you from getting a strider bike! Overall my son and I both LOVE this bike!! he rides it every single day, either in the house or outside!

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Classic No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

After a last minute decision to get our daughter a Strider bike for her 3rd birthday that was only 5 days away the hunt was on. I hopped on the online chat function on Strider's website and in a matter of minutes Tyler had assured me the bike would arrive in Michigan on time for the party. He not only gave me detailed information on their distribution and shipping process but also how many days until arrival so I could be at ease about getting the bike on time for the party. Tyler also asked me to email him when my order was complete so he could follow up internally and make sure the bike came from the closest warehouse to me and that it made it out that day. Next I received conformation that the bike was on the road from Atlanta and will make it in time. Thanks again for the best customer service on the planet!

    So Far, So Good

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Classic No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

My son is only 18 months old and is just starting to take an interest in going over to the bike and swinging his leg over it and walking while straddling it. It's the perfect height for a toddler. I can't yet say anything about the overall durability and performance, but I think this was a smart choice for him at this age. Many other balance bikes I researched are significantly taller and couldn't be used for a toddler. I wanted to get him started early.

We have purchased Strider balance bikes for 2 of our boys when they were about 18 months old. They were able to ride a pedal bike by 3 years old, but still prefer their Strider bikes for mountain trails and playing at the skate/bike parks.

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Classic No-Pedal Balance Bike - Pink:

I cannot begin to say enough about our Strider bike. Our son received a regular training wheel bike for his 2nd birthday from grandma. Though we worked and worked he could not get it down. Then my husband saw a story on Strider. I admit I was a skeptic as I had never heard of a balance bike and doubted it greatly however he talked me into getting one. We had to purchase a 16" because our son was a little older at that point and is naturally tall. We received our Strider late one summer and used it into the fall and part of the following summer until his birthday in August when my father bought him a bike for his birthday. You cannot believe my amazement when he hopped on the new bike and took off! He was a little wobbly at first but never fell or required assistance. He just jumped on and was riding!!!! I will never again purchase a bike with training wheels. Strider has me for life!!!!
