Hello Strider, We love the balance bike! It’s awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time. Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide â€" “weeeeeâ€ he said. He tried pedals (on a 12â€ bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn’t comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12â€ bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels! Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12â€ pedal bike, walked with him saying, “pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycleâ€ and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo’s 16â€ bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it! I’ve included a video compilation (it’s 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen’s bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling! Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process. I feel it is the best balance bike on the market. Mark Weissinger Moab, Utah http://youtu.be/NrCr_3nYkeE

The bike works for it's intended use but materials are pretty cheap for the price you pay. For example bikes have a "headset", it's the bearings the on top and bottom of the frame where the fork goes through it. With a properly installed and adjusted headset there's no play between the frame and fork and the rotate rotates smooth and consistent. This does not have any sort of bearing for smooth operation or a way to really make it snug. It uses plastic washers as the headset bearings which was disappointing. It's not a bad bike but after seeing all the good reviews and taking the price into account I expected more. It's not a real good value

I have purchased a Strider Sport for each of my 3 grandsons. They love the bikes. It is the perfect size for each of them and teaches them balance, coordination and speed. So impressed with the quality, the colors and how the bike size adjusts to each child's size.

Fabulous Birthday Present!

By Grandma J

from Texas

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

I bought this for our Grandson's 3rd Birthday! The look on his face, when he received it was Priceless! He has ridden it EVERYDAY since he got it last Sunday. His Mom says that he rides it almost no-stop. She has to make him get off of it and come inside periodically. Especially since it has been 99-101 in their area during this time. It works beautifully on both the sidewalk and on the grass of the backyard. The construction is so sturdy and well balanced. He has no trouble riding it or maneuvering it. He automatically got on the bike and rode away without any instruction from any adults. I had shown him the videos online before he got the bike and just from that, he knew what to do with it. A Very Happy Grandma and Grandpa.

I am away on travel, so I had it shipped to where my 2 year old son is staying. They sent me a video of him riding it. He loves it so much that he cried when it was time to go in for the evening. He even woke up in the middle of the night (which he rarely does) and asked to go out and ride it.

Great bike for a toddler

By J Smith

from Bronx, NY, United States

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

I brought this for my son's 2nd birthday. He always wants to try to ride various bike's or tricycles when we go to our playground but he's still too small. We heard about this from another parent & after checking them out on the website we knew right away we had to get one. We've only had it for a day but he loves it. It gives him a sense of freedom & independence & he feels like a "big boy" . I only gave it 4 stars because we haven't had it long.

What a great concept! Thank you a million times!

By Ryan

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

What a great practice bike this was for our 5-year old daughter! She is a tall 5 year old so when we bought this bike for her, it seemed too small, but in reality it was exactly what she needed. A bike that wasn't too large and one she could easily maneuver on. She practiced on it for roughly one month, and then one Saturday she wanted to try her other bike without training wheels and off she went. I didn't even have to teach her the concepts. Thanks to the Strider bike, she knew how to balance. It was unreal to see and I couldn't believe my eyes! Thank you Strider bike. We owe you big time!
