Hello Strider, We love the balance bike! It’s awesome that the concept driving the first bikes, over 200 years ago, have come back for the wee tots. We have two boys, nearly five and nearly three, and both learned their two-wheeled balance on a strider. It was my vision that each kid would learn balance on the strider, and pedaling mechanics on a tricycle then the two would marry at the right time. Theo (born Jan, 2010) got his Strider for Christmas before he turned two and walked on it for nearly 6 weeks until he had his first glide â€" “weeeeeâ€ he said. He tried pedals (on a 12â€ bicycle) at 3 yrs. 5 months, and while he could do it, he wasn’t comfortable with it just yet. I borrowed the strider concept and removed the crank and pedals from that 12â€ bike, so that he could have a taller balance bike and so his 2 year younger brother (Owen, born Jan, 2012) could take over the strider (about 18 months). Theo transitioned onto a pedal bike at 4 years without ever experiencing the crutch of training wheels! Owen (adept at the strider, fully six months ahead of Theo), took to the strider practically instantly!! Just two months ago, having ridden a strider for over a year, Owen was exposed to a pedal bike. At 22 months old, I put him on a 12â€ pedal bike, walked with him saying, “pedal-pedal-pedal little guy, just like the tricycleâ€ and he took off! He used his handle bar balance checks and rode a pedal bike, without training wheels at under 3 years!! He can also ride Theo’s 16â€ bike, albeit his feet are a good 6-8 inches from touching the ground, but he can RIDE it! I’ve included a video compilation (it’s 8 min but stick with it ;) of Owen’s bike-learning year. Oh, and Owen was born with a critical congenital heart defect requiring open-heart reconstructive surgery at 10 days old. He also has an underlying neurological condition affecting the stability of his eye muscles, so while he now has glasses to correct astigmatism and myopia, he mostly only uses one eye for all his antics. He pretty much goes all-in all the time, smiling! Thank you strider!! While there are other balance bikes on the market, I strongly feel that the design and engineering behind Strider is superior. It has the lowest minimum seat height yet extends high enough for an older toddler; with the narrower handlebar, smaller grips and light-weight frame geometry, it allows very small children to manipulate and maneuver the bike with little effort, more of a reflex than a process. I feel it is the best balance bike on the market. Mark Weissinger Moab, Utah http://youtu.be/NrCr_3nYkeE

The bike works for it's intended use but materials are pretty cheap for the price you pay. For example bikes have a "headset", it's the bearings the on top and bottom of the frame where the fork goes through it. With a properly installed and adjusted headset there's no play between the frame and fork and the rotate rotates smooth and consistent. This does not have any sort of bearing for smooth operation or a way to really make it snug. It uses plastic washers as the headset bearings which was disappointing. It's not a bad bike but after seeing all the good reviews and taking the price into account I expected more. It's not a real good value

Lil Red Loved it

I bought one for my nephew. We got the green classic one and placed it under the Christmas tree. As soon as he spotted it he went straight for it, despite all of the other gifts and distractions. He climbed right on even though he is only a year and a half. Apparently he has been eyeing the little boy across the street who has one, so he knew exactly what to do. He is a little small but already loves it and will grow into it soon.

We love this bike!!!!

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

I bought a Strider bike for my grandson Jack after talking with friends who suggested one because of Jack's obsession with motorcycles. I repainted it in metal flake blue and clear coat to match my motorcycle and added custom graphics with his name JackJack and with Throttle Jockey decals. He fell in love with it immediately and he and I have had such fun and bonding time with it. I bought his the ski accessories for it and we are excitedly awaiting snow. He rides this in our house when the weather is bad. Jack immediately was able to ride the Strider well, picking up quickly on it and now he is doing more advanced riding. I'm building him a dirt track in the spring. Thanks for a great product. We love it.

I set the tone by buying my first grand daughter a Strider for her 2nd birthday a couple of years ago. Then my grand son when he turned 2. I just bought my 3rd and 4th grandchildren theirs, with our 5th, 6th and 7th-(bun in the oven) coming around the bend. My hope is to have them all in a parade somewhere riding their bikes.

Only A Strider Would Do!

By Gramma Barb

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

Our youngest son Jack is an avid biker who has gifted his siblings' kids with Strider bikes while they were very young. Now that Jack has a son of his own, we knew the perfect Christmas gift for Ollie would be a Strider, although Ollie is only ten months-old! Jack selected the Strider, I (Gramma Barb) ordered it, and the bike arrived for Ollie the next day. Great service, great bike, so fun!

Just awesome for teaching my two year old grandson to balance. His brother had one on these and was riding a two wheel bike with no training wheels at three years old.

My son received his Strider bike on a Sunday and by Tuesday he was already lifting his feet off the ground and coasting for several feet. Wow! The bike was super easy to assemble (took less than 5 minutes), is lightweight and my son loves the orange color.

Perfect intro to a love of bikes

By M Rad

from Driggs, ID, United States

Comments about Strider Sports 1019787 Strider 12 Sport No-Pedal Balance Bike - Red:

Our son started riding his strider around age 2, and after a bit of scooting around slowly, he started to figure out the 'stride'. That's when we were really sold. He is able to cruise on this little thing so fast I need a bike myself to keep up. His balance skills are incredible. Its light weight enough for a toddler to maneuver easily, the tires are solid so we never have to worry about flats. Its one of his favorite activities, especially since we are avid bikers, so he feels like he can join in the family fun. I can also stick it in the basket of my chariot bike trailer for when he gets tired.
