Product Description

Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol with Iron provides an excellent source of vitamins A, C and D for infants and children who are exclusively or partially breastfed.

Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Got this as a sample from my OBGYN before my babe was born. Read up on ingredients and why it's necessary. I was shocked to find out that they can't get enough Vitamin D from BM. My babe wasnt thrilled by the taste at first but enjoys it now. I mix it in w his fruit or rice creal now. Not the best smelling and does stain but what vitamin smells or tastes great. Glad I've been using it almost since he was new and have recommended it to friends.

My question is what type of caramel coloring is used ?

Current federal regulations allow four types of caramel coloring: two of which are made with ammonia: Caramel III and Caramel IV.

Caramel III is made with ammonia but not sulfites and Caramel IV is made with ammonia and sulfites. Both of these have been implicated in causing cancer in lab animals.

The label does not disclose which type is being used. I find this both unfortunate and suspicious. Even more so since the artificial color is completely unnecessary.

What type of Caramel food coloring is present in this product? The ingredients only list "caramel color".

Until I find out more I am returning the TriViSol we purchased. I'm not taking any chances with my baby.

Aside from my concern it seems to be a good product, our EBF baby eats it up no problem, but he's seen the last of it until I find out more about the above.

For full disclosure I am a medical doctor.

New Syringe is horrible

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

The new syringe requires two hands to fill up and to dispense into babies mouth (without drowning the poor little one.). You do realize Moms only have ONE extra hand?? This little (yet so big) inconvenience is making me have to find a new brand.

I don't know who decided to change the applicator, but it's obviously someone who has not tried to give it to an infant. Please bring the old eye dropper back. That one we could use with just one hand. This new one takes two hands.

Great product. Mied with formula and smells nice. Funny thing is that my baby's burps smelted nice when I put in his bottle. Only thing I don't like was the new bottles come with a cheap syringe and no longer come with the squirt dropper. I just reuse the old bottle.

I have used this brand with my first two children and loved it! I loved the vitamins and loved the design of having the syringe screw on with the suction top. I absolutely hate the new syringe! It is poorly made and a much bigger hassle then the old design. Will trade to a different brand of vitamins because of this hassle.

Read great reviews about the product so my mother in law purchased it yesterday and I just found out the product is expired, it expired 2 weeks ago. It is freaking me out because I already had given it to my baby twice. Ridiculous.

I love this but it could use some work! If I could take a picture I would, except the vitamins are with my boyfriend. The smell is a little off, but these vitamins contain iron so I don't have to give my baby boy iron as well as vitamins because it comes in one! The taste is a little fowl too. But the dye from the vitamins can stain. I put this in my baby's bottle rather than his mouth so he won't be able to taste it as much, and to prevent staining.
