Product Description

Enfamil Tri-Vi-Sol with Iron provides an excellent source of vitamins A, C and D for infants and children who are exclusively or partially breastfed.

Founded over 100 years ago by Edward Mead Johnson, one of the original founders of Johnson and Johnson, the Mead Johnson company produces more than 70 different products that are distributed in over 50 countries worldwide. Mead Johnson produces baby formula, vitamin and specialty nutritional supplements including Enfamil. Introduced in 1959, Enfamil baby formula has undergone several significant changes since it was invented. Each change brings Enfamil baby formula nutritionally closer to breast milk.

Edward Mead founded Mead Johnson because he wanted to make products to help people live healthier lives. After much research, Edward Mead and his son Lambert discovered a way to manufacture nutrient-rich baby food formula for infants who didnt have access to breast milk. This eventually became Enfamil baby formula.

Mead Johnson's global operations center and U.S. regional office is located in Evansville, Indiana.

Got this as a sample from my OBGYN before my babe was born. Read up on ingredients and why it's necessary. I was shocked to find out that they can't get enough Vitamin D from BM. My babe wasnt thrilled by the taste at first but enjoys it now. I mix it in w his fruit or rice creal now. Not the best smelling and does stain but what vitamin smells or tastes great. Glad I've been using it almost since he was new and have recommended it to friends.

My question is what type of caramel coloring is used ?

Current federal regulations allow four types of caramel coloring: two of which are made with ammonia: Caramel III and Caramel IV.

Caramel III is made with ammonia but not sulfites and Caramel IV is made with ammonia and sulfites. Both of these have been implicated in causing cancer in lab animals.

The label does not disclose which type is being used. I find this both unfortunate and suspicious. Even more so since the artificial color is completely unnecessary.

What type of Caramel food coloring is present in this product? The ingredients only list "caramel color".

Until I find out more I am returning the TriViSol we purchased. I'm not taking any chances with my baby.

Aside from my concern it seems to be a good product, our EBF baby eats it up no problem, but he's seen the last of it until I find out more about the above.

For full disclosure I am a medical doctor.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

Although my little one doesn't like the flavor (neither do I- if it goes in his mouth it goes in mine first) you can get past it by getting it in quickly and then adding the bottle to force that sucking/swallowing action without them really noticing. I can't let him smell it before cuz that gives it away... And I have to have the bottle right behind or he spits it all back out. With that being said- it is easy to administer and gives you a pice of mind knowing they are getting the vitamins and nutrients they need. I am thankful for this product!

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

I never used the bulb everyone speaks of but the syringe is easy to use for measurements. It isn't the easiest to give to my daughter but I do not think a bulb would be better. We've both gotten the hang of administering and she only lets a little leak from her mouth sometimes. The syringe allows me to put just a little in her mouth at a time to allow her to swallow at her own pace.

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

I thought this product used to come with an eye dropper to dispense directly into bottle easily. Now it comes with a syringe that requires use of two hands, takes longer to measure out, is messy, and just an all around pain compared to an eye-dropper/lid, that would screw right on as the cap after the initial opening of the product. Please enfamil, go back to the eye-dropper lid design!! Every time I use your product I think how annoying it is!!

Comments about Mead Johnson Enfamil Tri Vi Sol Drops:

After replacing the dropper cap with the "more convenient" syringe, I now have a very thin syringe to hand wash after every use. Takes less than a minute, I know, but that's time I DON'T HAVE, between two kids, the household, a full-time job, and twins on the way. My toddler won't take it anymore, and the little ones on the way never will :0(
Way to consider busy moms, Enfamil! Al least give me the option to switch to the dropper (I'd even but it separately!)

I bought this product based on my child's needs, not based on ease of drawing/giving a dose. I'm on the fence with which applicator is best as you may have to adjust how you give the vitamins if you are struggling with the syringe. The reason I purchased the product was for what's inside the bottle and I find that to be great.
