My grandson, a great Lego fan, loves making buildings, tools, weapons (!) and many other things with these bricks. No windows or doors, wheels or anything else, but there still is an infinite number of things that can be made. And if those other elements should be needed, they can be acquired separately. Yes, the sets meant to build a particular thing can be exciting (and my grandson has several of those), but for most purposes, this takes the cake.

My family loves Legos. So much so that I bought 4 of these sets in order to make a Christmas morning surprise (a large Lego bowl of Legos). Even with this many sets, I had to resort to using dozens 1x2 and 2x2 pieces because there are so few of the larger pieces. For as much as we pay for a 650 piece set, it would be nice to make sure at least half of the set was larger than 2x2.

Great product. I am thinking about getting another one because my 5 yr old son loves to build big houses and cars and planes. He enjoys it. Drawback is there is no container to keep them in because the box it comes in is cardboard. So think about investing in some kind of case.

My 4 grandsons are all techies and love electronics but in the end, they always come back to Legos! Building creative structures and toys never seems to get old for them--they are ages 8 to 14 now. I bought this kit to supplement my diminishing supplies and glad I did because they get used on every visit to Grandma's! The colors in this kit are vivid and the Lego parts never seem to break.

We have lots of specific Lego sets at my house for when my grandson visits. However, he often wants to expand them in an imaginative way. With this basic set, he can combine the specific and the basic to make something totally new but still within his interest range. For example, he combined pieces of Lego Batman Motorcycle set with basic pieces from this set to build what he calls Bruce Wayne's Manor House.
