dont listen to all the reviews on this product. it works great. if you use the correct screws in the correct holes, they all fit. it is adjustable to fit just about any tv!! we had no difficulty. my husband did not have to drill any holes in the product to make it work. the only thing i can say is it did not come with directions so you actually have to be smart enough to figure it out. hence why all the reviews were incorrect. i am glad i did not listen to them and tried it out myself. it is meant to be able to move your tv around if you wanted. some people didnt understand that.

This is the most poorly designed product I have ever attempted to use, period. First of all it is not fully adjustable. There are 4 sizes that this will work for (200, 400, 600, 800 mm). You can adjust the sliding arms, but only if you are wider than the 400 mm width. Next, there are 3 different hole sizes that your TV might have. They have included all 3 sizes with the product. My TV (50" Samsung Plasma) requires the largest diameter bolts and the holes are 400 mm apart. However, the largest diameter bolts are too big to go through the holes in the bracket! The product isn't even designed to accommodate the bolts it provides for itself. The only holes on the bracket that the bolts will go through are for the 600 or 800 mm widths. So, I thought that maybe if I start drilling the bolts into the bracket, it will widen the hole as it goes through. After a minute, I was finally able to get it started through the 400 mm holes. Now the directions specifically state to keep the sliding arms in the bracket, even if you are using the smaller sizes. This is confirmed by the pictures in the directions. The problem with that is that the holes for the bolts are the same size in the arms as they are in the bracket. And whereas the bracket is plastic and the holes can widen as the bolt is drilled through, the arms are metal and the holes can't get wider. So, in my attempt to get the only bolts that work for my TV through the proper holes for the width, the bolts got stripped out as it is impossible to make happen according to the proper directions. I was able to get the bolts out with pliers and I think I can make it work if I can get 2 new bolts and only use the plastic bracket and not the sliding metal arms. Hopefully it will work once this "little" problem is solved. They really need to look at the design of this product since according to these reviews, people have had similar issues and had to figure out how to make it work for their TV. I mean, the fact that the bolts provided don't even fit through the holes is pretty ridiculous. I'm sure if you can get it installed, it works as designed. I hope I can get it working and find out.

Works after some modifications

Comments about Safety 1st Professional Grade Flat Screen TV Lock:

Product was purchased to secure to the wall a 52" Samsung LCD TV which is sitting on a TV stand. Product appeared to have been previously opened. Thankfully, it was not damaged, or missing parts and the directions were still there.

However, the included hardware is not compatible with my Samsung TV. The bolts that fit the mounting holes are too short as the TV mounting holes are recessed to the back of the TV case. I had to buy Metric (size 8) bolts about an inch longer, which only cost about $1.20 from a local hardware store.

Additionally, the holes in the product arms that fit the TV's mount pattern are not the outermost holes in the product that accept the largest bolts. They are the holes second in from the last which accept the smaller bolts not compatible with my TV. So I had to take a 5/16" drill bit and hog out the holes on the product to allow the fitment of the bolts through the holes and into the TV. It required enlarging the holes and a slight inward expansion of the holes on the arms to get the bolts to line up.

After solving the too-short bolts issue and the bolt/arm holes size issue, I managed to get the product installed on the back of the TV. Mounting the wall bracket was not an issue.

After that, I used the two end pieces and connected them together without using any of the tubes provided for the shortest distance possible and the product now works as expected. With modifications, the project took about 30 minutes (not including the trip to the hardware store).

If one isn't handy with a drill and is expecting the product to work out of the box, that wasn't my experience, at least with my TV. Caveat Emptor.

Shipping was otherwise prompt, and I would buy this product again.

I didn't buy this for protecting kids (I don't have any), rather it was to reduce the chances of a small earthquake causing the TV to sway and fall off the TV stand, and it seemed a bracket to the wall was better than straps to the same TV stand (which would only cause the two to tip over as a unit).

Not sure why the bad reviews, was what I needed so decided to give it a try anyways. Was fairly easy to assemble and install. Very secure product, I will not have to worry about my two year old being able to tip over my 46 inch tv any longer.

When I opened the box I jus loved it. But I am disappointed when I tried to put it in.
              1. None of the 3 types of screws fit the screw holes on my TV
              2. Spacing on mounting bar is off by 3 mm. The spec says it will fit to 400, 600 & 800 mm apart mounting holes on the back of the TV. My TV has 400 mm spacing b/n the holes. But, this junk's minimum spacing is 403 mm.

My husband started putting this together and noticed that the screws were stripping as it was being put in to make the bars go together. The screws did not work and also it is all made out of the cheapest plastic possible. Completely not safe if it is supposed to keep a tv from falling...shame on the company for making such a bad product and shame on it being priced high for its "quality" as well as the only option at my babies r us!

I got this when we bought our 55" Sanyo flat screen. I have a 2 year old and didn't want her pulling it down on top of her. When my husband and I went to install the TV and the lock, it didn't fit. The holes on my TV are 15.5 inches apart and the holes on the bracket are 16 inches. Definitely returning this. It does NOT fit all TVs.

I have a Samsung PN43D450, VESA 400 with 8mm bolts. This product DOES NOT fit my TV out of the box. If you have a VESA 400 that uses 6mm or 4mm bolts, then this might fit perfectly! If you have a VESA 600 or 800 then the 8mm bolts should fit. The placement of the bolt holes for VESA 400 are sized for 6mm or 4mm, Meaning you will have to drill out the holes on the Bracket, to accommodate the 8mm Bolts! Not that big of a deal, unless you are scared of drills! Don't believe me? Go ahead and trust the guy, who says "Don't listen to stupid PPL"! I did, and now I want to slap him. Considering how few options there are out there, I recommend you just have your drill handy.

Our flat screen TV sits on top of an entertainment center that goes diagonally in a corner so the TV could tip backwards and break. When we got the product out of the box and lined it up with the screw holes in the back of the TV we realized we needed screws that were shorter. A quick trip to Lowes found shorter screws that worked perfectly. We actually attached the bar to the entertainment center since the wall was too far away. The bar holds the TV from tipping both forward and backwawrd.
