We often joke that our 2 yr old is Houdini because he has broken through all sorts of child-proofing from cabinet locks to expensive baby gates. These are awesome! I glued them together with Gorilla Glue to make sure he wouldn't be able to break them off. They've been on his bedroom door knob, the office door knob and the kitchen door knob for months and he hasn't figured them out yet! AWESOME!

1. Take out the rubber grippers from the insideof knob covers. This way it will just spin and spin when they attempt to open a door. Parents: when you wish to use the door, place a finger inside the hole on the end and turn knob that way.

2. as another poster suggested placing tape around the cover for those children that can pop them off is helpful for that purpose.

My barely 2 yr old hasnt been able to get out a door at ALL since rubber was removed and he's a bright little boy who can open child safety medicine bottles of all kinds. Scary all locked up in small toolbox now.

      It is very hard to get a good grip on this with the slightest wet hands. Sometimes I am doing dishes or other things and need quick access to a room with a safety knob on it and can't open it. Very frustrating! Don't buy these!

            My son is 2 years old and pops these things off the door knobs very easily! Definitely do not recommend. They are easily removed. Do not buy!

              Gave this to my daughter with 2 yr.old twins-hoped this would work. The twins removed it immediately & put it in the refrigerator with the eggs-They thought it was a BIG egg. Well, they still got in her bedroom. Product is a great idea. It just didn't work for this 2 year old twins.

                  We used this inside of our curious 2 year old son's room so that he didn't wake up and fall downstairs. He has just shown us that it is a cinch to dismantle in 3 seconds. We watched him do it on the monitor.

                      At 22 months old, my son hit it right off after a few tries. They only have to pull the lock apart where the halves connect. Now that he's 25 months, he can get this off in a few seconds. Avoid similar models and spend a little more on a better lock.

                          I bought a few packages of these to keep our daughter from opening the doors, needless to say since she was about 18 months old (she's two now) she has been able to pop them off with ease. So not only am I out of the money I spent on these but now our daughter can open all the doors that we don't want her to open. Her safety is way more important than the money spent on them which is why I gave them a shot. They are no good. Don't waste the money, they do not work.

                          Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

                              The first day that we put this lock on our handle our son was frustrated because he could not open the door. It only took three days for him to learn that if he pulls on it the clamps will pop apart.
                              Worthless, I am on my way back to TRU to return it.

                              We use these on our bedroom and front doors and the doors are already kind of difficult to open because we live in an old apartment with doors that stick. Because you actually have to daintily grab the door knob through the holes in the sides of the device, it makes it even more difficult and tedious to use them. They need rubber stoppers on the inside to grip the knob
